Not much detail yet but somebody in Moscow tripped while in VR, fell into a glass coffee table, got cut very badly, and bled to death.

We've almost had other deaths, though. There is a YouTube video of some gal getting scared and running full speed into a wall right next to a glass patio door, and another guy reported having chest pains in a horror experience that emergency room doctors said was the start of a heart attack.

Just posting to remind folks that when in VR we are in large part blind to our environment. In motion sims we're probably all seated, but most of us do other things in VR as well.

As someone who does lots of public demos the key thing is to ensure a safe play space and when working with VR newbies give good instructions about what to expect and safety matters, plus most importantly select appropriate content.

So true, on the other hand we humans are sometimes stupid and blind and sometimes we do not want to follow the advices given to us.

Indeed...like having a glass coffee table in or near the VR play space, it was only a matter of time before someone somewhere did something as stupid as that and then paid the ultimate price.
