has anyone used an electric drill as an actuator motor ?

the more i look at them the more they seem to make sense

they are DC and can be controlled with a h bridge

they have adjustable gear box ratios

they are designed to work in tough environments

    they are cheap

    they are readily available

could be modified to add some cooling fans etc

is there a video of one in action on a sim ?

Bumping the thread. I've had the exact same idea.

    速度控制、位移控制比较麻烦,另外加编码器或变频器吗?

    Google translate:
Speed control, displacement control is more troublesome, plus an encoder or inverter?

Thanks for the reply Meng. Getting displacement control from something you have speed control is not as hard as it may seem. I can help you guys with this, since my work is related to control systems. Specially if you have an encoder working together, this gets pretty easy.

Did you ever work with electric drill motors?
