For 24volt motors up to 120watts I would suggest this:

I do not see a problem to build a seat mover using the commercial racing seat ;)
I was a little cautious abut the specs, 120W should be OK as well but you never know the peaks can shut down a h-bridge even if the motors are less current rated.

I know ... I bought MDF, if I can use MDF for furniture ok

or try with the platform and when I see that at least moves
I can think of design as your very top!

If you check my thread I use the dual vnh5019 on my project with 12volts supply(12v=more amps ~2x).

I never had any issues with the h-bridge.

But i have to confess I was skeptical too.

I didn't think it could be better than a motomonster if you consider the price difference.

But if you check the specs...

20amps @ 24volts (500watts) per channel should be ok for "several" secs

    And

    30amps @24volts (750watts) fos some milisecs

should be OK for stalling a 5amp@24volt(120 watt) mottor.

I am not talking about the specs, and I use them on 24v. I share my experience here which shows a significant less powerful bridge than expected by the specs you quoted.

I am sorry. I must have missed the part that you have used the dual vnh 5019... just saw the picture.

The info that you post is very interesting though, because the numbers I quoted are not suposed to be theotetical specs but real-life test results that pololu "claims" that they have done...without heatsinks.

Of course real life experience is always more useful than a bench test.

    Thanks for the info @Pit.

The Dual VNH5019 are assembled by default, you have to stick the cooler and fan only
    https://www.pololu.com/product/2507
..and to connect to the Ard, of course.

heat sink is even more important than a fan...
The FAQ section is your friend...look for Arduino (I can advise to to try out the SMC3 code), the wiring is described on the Pololu page itself. If you have all gadgets together I can help if you struggle, but I do not help reading all needed information.

Can someone give me some advice on configuring my potentiometer? I set it to what seems to be the middle position and have my seat level. I glue the pot onto the back of the drive shaft (my roll axis is powered by one large worm geared DC motor directly driven). Upon loading the sketch one would imagine it would automatically assume the starting position of the pot is where it wants to be, but instead it jobs the motor 90 degrees of center. What's going on here?

Pardon? Your question has nothing to do with the topic of the thread starter, so I kindly suggest to open a new thread where your issues can be discussed. Thank you.
