I've been reading up on the Thanos/PT-Actuator and SFX-100 systems and notice they all use AASD-15A servo drivers along with an interface board... Prosimu uses what look to be a newer version on the Delta drivers (ASD-A2-0721-M) which daisy chain via Ethernet (similar to D-Box) before making a single connection to the USB controller board.

The way Prosimu has done this makes for a more "tidy" cabling solution, and I assume there are additional benefits to the driver they are using. I assume the small USB board (seen in the photo below) runs a proprietary firmware, again like D-Box with their KAI. I was curious if there is any open source way of controlling these drivers in the same manner or if Prosimu sells these as an accessory for DIY builders.

The small usb board they use is a simple USB to Can interface. There is nothing special about it. They just control the servo drives via software on the PC using this CAN bus (or Modbus) serial interface.

I just wonder what would happen if the computer crashes for some reason while the rig left hanging in a weird position... i mean they don't mention anything about safety features ain't they?
