:D I'm consumed by VR at the moment, so my Sim does the job for me.
6 DOF is so appealing for Heave though!

or you can solder a wire directly on the motor.

I'm really looking foward to your work. Your built is the most impressive with this budget motor.
Keep up with your big toy!

I missed this question. I wondered the same and ended up just soldering 8-gauge wire directly to the motor terminals. I removed the rubber insulators from the motors and then taped over the connections with a real thick electrical tape. Use a ton of flux and preheat both.

haha! I enjoy it way more than him - but you won't see videos of me. I love using Assetto Corsa on it but don't have a ton of time.

    Great build CLEOPHUS,
I had a few questions as I haven't touched a build anything close to this before and I'm very curious.

    • In your original post you had your parts list, looks like the ebay coolers for the MM link is the same as the MM themselves. Can you provide a link to the coolers?
    • What kind of arduinos did you use? How much did these run, or did you just have them around already?
    • How long did you cut your threaded rod? Did you just go with a rule of thumb and then adjust it in? You mentioned calibrating them, what was the process for doing that?
    • What were some of the software settings you eventually used and became happy with?
Apologies for all the questions at once, but so much to learn.

I wish I had a great story to tell on how I drew up schematics and tested everything before the build - but I just winged it and hoped for the best.

    - Here is the correct link for the coolers - HERE I will update the post.
    - I bought the arduinos at MicroCenter - HERE $5.99 USD each
    - I didn't cut the threaded rod. I ordered the 24" length and hoped I wouldn't need to cut it. With the original orientation I thought I might need to cut them because it was very unstable, but in the end they worked great.
    - I would be happy to post screenshots of them settings in simtools. I'm not in front of that PC now but could post some this weekend.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

So far - everything has been great with no overheating, even with me on it (180 lbs). I was hoping I wouldn't need to mount fans on the motors like you did, and so far we have been OK. I would say they are warm to the touch - but nothing more than that. I do only have PWMmax set at 150 in SMCutils because of all the documented MM issues.

My son complains that Dirt is too ruff and I say suck it up. haha

I still would like to add a USB on-off main switch on the rig and a seat belt. The handbrake is really fun in Dirt, and with the traction loss dialed in, you really get the feel of driving.

I see you gave up on the MMs for your new build?

Good to hear the motors are not overheating and by the looks of it you dont really need anymore power to the motors as it looks really responsive as it is :)

Yes I gave up in the end last 6 I bought only 1 worked all the others were duds so went with the sabertooths . Still got lots of problems but I will get it all sorted eventually (I hope :D)

    Much appreciated!
I'll be sure to ask if I come up with anything else to ask, but I'm also a bit of a "wing it and hope for the best" type.
