Brushless DC motors as linear actuators

    Hi everyone.

    I'm doing the research into different actuator types and while there is plenty of information available on brushed DC motors there doesn't seem to be nearly as much on brushless DC motor control. Why is that? Are brushless motor drivers incorporating position feedback unavailable?

    It seems that the higher power output and RPM from the hobby r/c type motors available would be ideal when coupled to a linear screw.

    Does anyone know of any examples where someone has made a position controlled linear actuator based on a brushless motor?​
