    Hi noorbeast and others,

I've already spent hours surfing around here it's verry interesting, helpfull and fun to do. Thanks for the links.

Going to make a 'simple' test setup (with scrapyard motors etc) just to get it running. I really beleave this is the hart of the system, if the motors don't run/interact proper the rest has no use for motion.
After mastering that designing follows and going for a more heavy duty setup. If I understand the system quickly I'm thinking of going directly for the 6-dof.
    I don't know, that's why I'm here.

Finance is not really a big issue, also going VR. Why should I buy three monitors instead of one VR-glasses to get more sim-effect? But that's another chapter.

So I'm looking foreward to start my own project and see how it develops, hoping to get a lot of help (which I need).

    See yah in project section.

    Hi All!

I'm Pat from Ontario Canada, and for the last few months I've been thinking about and planning my own racing simulator.

I've got a G27 but since I've moved back in with my parents (I just finished engineering school) I don't have the desk space anywhere to mount my wheel - I figured I'd build a sim. At the very least, its something to do.

I've got a lot of student loans so this is gonna be a budget build for me. I do have a 3D printer so I can custom build any fasteners, mounts, parts, etc as I see fit. I'm thinking of keeping it fairly simple for now, but I'd like to make it look nice. (Mom won't be too pleased with a couple of 2x4's screwed together in her living room) I'm thinking of going to junkyards or maybe taking a walk through IKEA and finding some cheap metal tubing I can cut down. I think I'll 3D print corner pieces and mounts and bolt the tubing into that.

I'm gonna go to the junkyard in the coming weeks and pick up a seat from a car - was there last week and the passenger seat of an Acura RSX seemed sporty, comfortable, and wasn't too big
While I was there I grabbed the dash out of a mid 2000's Mercedes, so I'd like to program the gauges in that to display as the game displays.
After I have the basic frame built I'd like to install a Buttkicker or similar system, but after stumbling onto this site, I realized that multi-DOF systems are quite popular, and maybe once I find a job and move out (in a few years down the road) I'd investigate this.

I play Assetto Corsa and Dirt from time to time. I'm excited for project cars, but I'm gonna wait to get that until I'm working and have some disposable income to buy that (it's subscription based after all).

    Cheers!

    New one here too

Built my own custom setup, after many prototypes using 80/20 I switched to box tube
( welded and powder coated ) very very happy with the setup

I use an x4000 simX interface with x4 scn6 actuators (fabricated the covers + made some fantastic dampers too)

I'll post pics at some point

    New member here (obviously).
As with many others, I just stumbled my way in here. I have vague delusions of building a full sim rig at some point in the hazy distant future.
Slight bit of background, electronics software hardware nerd since I can remember. I've found that I actually like making things out of other things recently. I have a slight bit of experience with Arduino, some "professional" robotics, loads of code on the PC, horrible soldering skills, and ridiculous ideas for projects that rarely get finished. But I've got pages and pages and pages of plans for all sorts of things. Probably similar to many people here.
Mainly found my way here from work I saw from @SilentChill in regards to Elite Dangerous. A game that has taken up hundreds of hours of my life, but in a good way.
In the short term I'm planning to finish the PVC HOTAS mount I started a few weeks ago and likely give it away to one of my buddies. Which will give me an excuse to build a bigger better faster stronger SimPit.

I'm blown away by the amount of material on the forum and look forward to digging into the huge amount of information here.
