You can duel post in Chinese as long as you include an English translation.

We have bi-lingual speakers from many different language groups so if Google Translate really messes it up they can help clarify what was intended.

Well I guess I should stop in here and make a quick post. I just really started to get into sim racing, and already have the itch to get all in. I have already ordered an Arduino UNO and plan on trying to build a RC servo based seat mover as a POC.

Thanks for the welcome! I have been lurking for a few weeks, looking over the build threads and reading up on hardware, but decided I need to start getting active on here so I can get my points to download SimTools!

Just wanted to drop by and say Hi.

Been desk sim racing for a while but only with controllers and wheels + pedals, no motion, yet.
Picked up the Pagnian steering wheel and pedal stand a while back.

However, I just ordered pretty much everything I need for a 2DoF using the PGSaw motors, JRK 12v12, hall effect pots.
Still need to make connecting rods and buy some ball ends.

Once everything arrives, I'll start a project thread.

    Cheers,
    Sean.

Welcome @Naxalar (Sean)! It sounds like you have a very good start going there. You can't go wrong with the components you have selected so far. Start a thread in the DIY section so we can track your progress and offer help if you need it.

    Hello,

I'm a newbie with motion and racing (also with forum in general:)).
Want to built my own rig, not sure what kind 2 or 6 dof. My most concern is that I don't know how to make the motors listen to the game (mechanics no problem).
So where do I start? I know by buying some parts, but which and why?

    Welcome @Napke.

You have come to the right place, there is a really active community here who freely give of their time and expertise.

A 2DOF is a great place to start and can be extended later to include things like traction loss and heave, a 6DOF is a far more complex and costly project. Have a look at existing member builds, that may help you refine your own project: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

I'm new to motion sim. Actually so new all I have is ideas. I considered just going the reality headset route but though combining the two would be best. I have a son doing electrical and mechanical engineering but haven't talked him into building me one. Maybe with your help I can do some of it myself. I am mechanical, used to be an aircraft strucural repair mechanic and love building things. Can wait to start building. I'm from Utah, USA.

@fggb there's no real reason you cant build and wire it up yourself, its not exactly rocket science once you understand whats what. Were here to help, so any question's just ask.

Hello, I am new to all of this, I'm pretty good at picking up new skills, but I've never done something that would be as complicated as building my own motion setup. I would like to build a system that is inexpensive, strong enough to handle my weight, (I'm 6'6" and 270lbs) and can be as close as possible to realism while wearing a VIVE/Oculus.

I'm in Washington State and am glad this site exists, because hopefully with your help I can put together something that will be a ton of fun to build, and then a ton of fun to play with! My main focus is to build it for racing simulation, not flight sim as well. I would love to pick some brains on here regarding what system would be best for my setup. Size and weight aren't huge factors for me (at least not at first) but quiet operation, ease/inexpensiveness of build and effectiveness of immersion are. Any ideas?

I'm reading up, but I'm also trying to figure out prices of the components. Arduino chips are cheap, mild steel should be cheap-ish, but the motors (and linear actuators... ouch) and the power supplies look like the bulk of the cost. Any tips on where to point me for motors would be great. I keep seeing things like wiper motors being used, but I imagine those would burn out quickly if I could get them to even work for my large self.

    Hello there,
I'm complete newbie as for motion simulators (except of dreaming of one for many years) but I've been "the odd adult guy who has racing seat in his living room for over 9 years (time is flying so fast..). I'm just finishing my second racing rig (Proto 2- picture attached, no motion obviously) with veeery comfortable seat from Alfa Romeo GT and 32" Samsung TV.
I always thought that I will be happy with this "improved rig" knowing that I can't afford any commercial Motion Sim in near future (until I won in a lottery or something) until I found that apparently whole bunch of you guys here around were able to build affordable (knowing this is very relative expression) motion rig. And that's what I'm going to try (or as Yoda says:"Do or do not, there is no try") do. Reading through the forum for couple of days and I'm still amazed by level of support and enthusiasm you guys (I'm sure some girls here as well, right?:)) share.
I'm going to start my project thread once my way to motion rig is cleaned up (finished current static rig - just want to finish it:)) as I will need support as I'm not really in small electronic area (not at all but have friends/family around).
Just wanted to say good day to you all, you have my admiration.

    drtikol.
