Hi all, have been doing some reading of the forums so thought it was only polite to join. I'm looking at building a motion platform and just gaining as much information before the start of the build. Hopeful completion time will be about 6 months.

Hi everyone, I´m new here also and I´m glad to find someone else interested in the motion simulators. The web is incredible. I´m from the basque country in Spain, and i recently started building a motion system using dc motor/arduino system. Nice to meet you

Hi from coold Canada  Shiny new user here but I have been messing with VR and sim stuff since the mid-nineties. Although I have been interested in this stuff I have no electrical or other engineering experience. So I guess I'm a glorified end-user. With winter now here it's time to get back into simming. See you in the forums! :)

Thank you noorbeast for the warm welcome and the links. I should have stated though that I have a sim rig already from simcraft that uses scn6 actuators. I happened across this site from a youtube video and I was wondering if I could use simtools as a replacement for the craftcon software provided by simcraft? The folks at simcraft are great but simtools seems to offer more titles and have more of a community behind it. I'm a casual gamer so I'm looking for interfaces that simcraft might not create a module for.

I was in the process of researching the proper forum to ask the above question.

Thanks again, it's good to be here

    Hello all!
    Just wanting to introduce myself.
    I am from Adelaide, Australia.

I have been researching how to make a 2DOF for a while now and the time has come.
I will be building one with MM and worm gear motors.

I look forward to getting it going and sharing the project

    Welcome @rochefort.

Sorry to hear about your computer problems, but I am not sure what you are trying to say caused it.

There are some limitations to stop new members posting links and pictures to prevent spam, but you can create threads and make comments: http://www.xsimulator.net/community...ed-posts-needed-before-links-can-be-used.150/

Plugin downloads use virtual activity coins or purchased packages, but it is not clear that you have a simulator or not to actually use them: www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/how-to-download-plugins.2/

When you are ready please do start your own project thread here and detail what you have or plan to build as a motion simulator: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Feel free to ask questions, the members here give freely of both their time and expertise.

    Welcome @hundahl.

Best to start your own project thread here and detail what you have in mind as a 4DOF design, that way members can advise on what may work: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Feel free to ask questions, the members here give freely of both their time and expertise.

SCNs are not likely to be useful in a 4DOF lift design: http://www.xsimulator.net/community...actuators-to-xxx-4-actuators.7359/#post-87171

But you could possibly use big wormdrive DC motors: http://www.xsimulator.net/community...actuators-to-xxx-4-actuators.7359/#post-87064

    Good luck with your project.

hey folks, new to the forum - have a fanatec CSW V2/3 setup with 2 SCN5 (150mm) actuators. Absolutely love AC and iRacing, trying to get into DiRT Rally now!
