    Hi Guys,

I'm Jesse from Melbourne, Australia. I've been browsing your site for a while now and have been amazed at all the amazing simulators people have made.
So much so that it inspired me to get started on my own!

I've done a bit of electronics in the past as well as engineering and fabrication but this will be the biggest project ive taken on before.

I shall be putting up a build project of it soon. Just thought id say Hi first!!

    Cheers.

    Hey guys!
    Petri, from Sweden here *waves*.
Been lurking around like all the others for a while, and decided to make an account for myself.
I haven't decided what kind of motion simulator i will make yet, have to read up on pros and cons of all of the builds.

Currently i have a budget around $1000, and will try to stick to it, but i know how these things tend to wander off :p
I have built Arcades, virtual pinballs and alot of other stuff, so this will be a cool new project to start up (my wife does not agree, but she is a... woman...)
Will be starting a build thread as soon as i got an idea and a sketch done =)

Got any ideas for me, be sure to let me know, looks like this is an awesome forum with alot of helpful ppl.

    Lets get busy!

$1000, piece of cake, can be done with JRKS (considered the expensive but easy boards) as well
    How to please a woman....................IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!

    Hello all

I guess I should say I got into this stuff when VR started to become a real thing. I'm actually here because of the SimTools 1.4 or should I say what 1.4 should contain. The audio and transducer controls is going to be a major addition and I'm planning to do a bunch of testing and probably asking for lots of help from anyone here who can help. My goal is to show everyone how they can put together a great tactile transducer setup for less than $40. Something that everyone can benefit from, but it's going to depend on quite a bit of testing. I know the parts are out there and honestly the total cost of my current full setup is less than $8, all parts I bought online, but I could be dead wrong and to actual make this work could be just as much as your typcial Dayton/Aurasound/BKII setup. Anyway that is what I will be working on and I have some question for any audio guys that can answer. I've got several approaches and I seriously hope one of them works well. I'll post in the projects thread once I do a bit more checking.

    Cheers!

Hi Linkup, welcome to XSimulator.net. I look forward to what you come up with for DIY transducers. I have built a few in the past out of old speakers, they work, and well. Good luck and keep us informed of your progress.

@Linkup , simtools 1.4? Is there something we should know about? I see 1.3, but not 1.4, maybe you can tell us more.
As for transducers, I recall @eaorobbie found a cheap transducer for something like $17 off the shelf. So hopefully he will reply and let us know , I cannot find the exact thread, but heres a snippet from another thread http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/aura-shaker-ast-2b-4-with-bk-g2-amp.6981/#post-80670
I think this is the sucker he is referring to http://www.daytonaudio.com/index.php/tt25-16-puck-tactile-transducer-mini-bass-shaker.html

    Ah hi there!

I'm fairly new to racing, only been playing for a year with assetto corsa, and a bit of gtr2, with my little DFGT!

Looking forward to making a nice static rig first, then moving onto a 2DOF rig.
I'm aiming for the basic 2DOF setup; i've seen a website(can't seem to post the link :) with 2 scn5's and a universal joint under the seat. simxperience i think its called - going for that approach !
Not sure how the alternatives to SCN5's match up(wiper motors??) - i'd like to construct both, with a view to test and compare, trying to get a good balance between cost and quality.
But thats a while away, i'm off to the forums to start reading :)

Until a Datyon Puck can Shake my Eye balls So Vigorously i cant see properly (Current setup does More than that) I think Ill stick to my Mod Gamer 2's and dayton 150w combo. :grin

Last i heard shaker support was coming along nicely.

    Welcome to the community Laurence,

basic 2dof is no problem at all, You'll find plenty of threads which will give you a good idea of whats what. As for the SCN5, I Highly suggest you do some research on the Pro's and Cons of Actuator's VS gear motor's. I Vote 12v DC motor's that are tried tested and True. Not to mention 1/4 the cost of Actuators. Controller's will be next and for the most part its either JRK or ARD. Again your choice and I personally recommend the JRK route. IMO a comparison between the 2 isn't really needed. Its been done before and there's good reason a Lot of guys choose Gear motor's.

    Hello!

My name is Josh from Thailand. I own a static cockpit (no movement) and I wish to make it live!
I had been watching this place for couple month and I decide to settle down here then start to lean how to build my own project!
I plan to build my 2DOF Simulator project by taking step by step from very useful tutorial here.

Thank you guys in advance for this community.

    Best,

I am a roller coaster enthusiast, but I don't have the money or space to build my own motion sim. So I'm pretty much here for the community.
