    Re: Arduino Dashboard - WIP

Hey there, everything is working perfectly on my side so your beta is not beta anymore for me that is.
The only thing I still need to figure out is to get the LEDs to flash at max RPM ie work like a shift light

Next project is to get my LCD up and running so that it displays the following
    Lap time
    Sector times
    Position
    Fastest lap
Some how I would want to have a button push to select which of the above I want at any given time
    1. Lap Time with sector Time on LCD during race
    2. Position and Fastest lap on LCD on a push of a button during race
and button push to go back to first.

Will keep you updated with progress.

    Re: Arduino Dashboard - WIP

no i have talk to many about the rfactorpython and its very buggy and no one that i have meet ,about 20 full on sim racers, even one C++ programmer who just said there something not right with the instructions given out. Typical of things like this, they want to keep it to themselfs and make people pay for the information. Mungrels.

OK now for stage two for ya mate.
Hooking an lcd int what ya already have is not too hard. Have a look at www.tronixstuff.wordpress.com, this is were i found some of the easiest to understand information on the arduino, Chapter 24 for monochrome lcd. It will take up six more outputs from the Arduino or if ya read on in chapter 24 there is a 3 wire option but communication speed is comprimised.
Ok shift lights is easy use an extra output pin from the Arduino to flash 2 extra leds that indicated its time to shift, with xsim set the new axis to rpm and set its upper limit to the rpm you wish for the lights to flash, use a time delay to make it flash. or inturn modify the existing code to add a flash at the desired rpm level but thats usually before max so as the rpm lights increase they will keep flashing until it drops under the shift flash rpm level. Sorry i cant give ya the answer with code time is limited at the moment, Works a dog, drive off with the sun rising, comming home after its set. In about 2 weeks i could offer ya something else.
Or in turn start ya own post, i beleive alot of g25 owners out there would be intrested in the mod, again looks great well done,
I got to clean mine up and make it look as professional as yours, Sweet addon.
By the way it just doesnt work for rfactor many of the x-sim supported games work on it.
As far as im concerned rfactorpython is dead live on xsim.

Hey Thanks again I will pop a new post shortly with all me work done so far. I just need to know will I be able to publish your code, as I do not want to take any credit for that part, it would not be right if I did wihtout your permission otherwise if not I will just reference your code to you in my post. I wish to say thank you again and hope to help you if you ever get stuck aong the way.

    Re: Arduino Dashboard - WIP

    No worries mate.
Post the code when time permits will fix my own post.
You proberly changed the code a little to suit your wire up anyway, so your finished code is yours ya only used mine as a base.
As long as ya credit using my base, im a happy camper. :yippiee:
The code intially came from about 19 posts i read where they were attempting but no one got it right, or if they did and didnt release the code for others.
Thanks for the offer mate this is what the sites suppose to be about simmers helping simmers.

    Re: Arduino Dashboard - WIP

yo mate what ya need to know.

2nd proto is in production now.
Will include same as above plus shift lights, speed, pwm driven lights for water and oil as it reaches the limits the led will glow brighter, plus an lcd read out for lap times, etc.

or do ya have alot of knowledge with the arduino because im limited by time to learn, interupts is what i need to know about as my code only uses delay to capture the serial strings.
