I took the scrap pieces from the base along with some re-purposed bed frame rails to create my motor brackets. I'll drill them tomorrow before I mount them to the base.

Got the old sim out, the new frame in place. I mounted the brackets and motors. I'll start on the cockpit next.

Wife is gonna complain about the bare osb. I can already hear it. "Are you just gonna leave it like that". It will have to be covered. Maybe I'll do some indoor/outdoor after I'm done welding. Yeah we won't share that I was welding in the house she won't like that either. Maybe she's right in calling me a 45 year old teenager. Oh well.

Looks good to me :) I just slapped a coat of paint on the concrete in my man cave and called it good. My wife keeps asking if I wouldn't rather put some flooring down.

I still kick myself for not buying up some of those motors when they were super cheap.

Wish I would have bought more. I could have used them for a few other jobs too. I would have grabbed a few more 50amp psu's also. I paid like 15.00 a piece for those.

you can usually find the Dell 2750's for 10-12.50$ when you look around.....I think the max I paid at any point was 16$ a pop.

    it looks very promising!
keep practicing the welding: maybe increase the intensity or slow down your speed in order to melt more the metal.

here you can see through the helmet

Yes I'm more of a grinder than a welder lol. I'll touch them up and grind. A better welder with bigger rods would help. These little rods wanna burn thru easy.

If watching videos made you good I'd already be an ace. I subscribe to weldingtipsandtricks on YouTube, now that guy is badass. If you like the welding videos this guy uses pov cam too.

20160523_130433.jpg @Nick Moxley, I still have to add the pedal area. I should be able to keep itunder 100lbs with hardware. We'll see if I'm forced to do some hole saw weight loss. I weigh about 150, so if total weight is less than 250lbs it should be ok.

Work keeps getting in the way of my sim building. It's still bucket powered. I'll try to get the rods made later after work. Then I can start on the control electronics.

Seat is still not attached as I'm still lacking a motor suitable for the surge application. The bodines come in at 13lbs each without any hardware. That's just too much weight. I really haven't looked as I've been building and working. Also on the to do is levers and rods, electronics, feedback system, extending the wheel upright closer to the driver, paint base, end caps for the 1x2 steel, diamond plate for foot area, monitor mounts............

In short there's still and bunch of crap to do. I'm trying to be as close as possible for MIS week on IRacing. That's the second week of June so maybe I need to give up on sleep. An hour or two Of building each day is not enough.
