I have similar concern about our three cats running around in the house. They are quite curious.
I really like the way they covered all the mechanics in this simulator. It could give you some ideas.

Signed up just to say how awesome this build is. I read through all 45 pages. I'll be taking a lot of advice from you and others on this board when I begin my project.

What is the sound/noise level difference between your geared motors in the old setup and the new actuators you have in the new setup? Which is louder/makes more noise?

I have a sleeping baby at home.

The gearboxes were silent pretty much but the actuators are quite a lot noisier but not really loud. Wearing the Oculus headphones I can not hear them and with my sim being in the basement I can make as much noise as I want :D

Impressive work and installation! The result and the sensations must be excellent! Good job ! ;)
Maybe the electrical equipment will deserve a dedicated cabinet?

Eu acho que são 3 arduinos com 2dof código

What size are the flexible shaft couplers, I need to order some but I don't know what size fits the hall sensor because I haven't gotten them yet. I am using the same time that you are.

    Hi @SilentChill,
I will soon be needing to make a choice on motor driver for my current build.
I note your experience back in 2016 where you struggled with the Sabertooth 2x32 and you upgraded to 2x60 for your 270W 12V motors.

After spending more than a year on your rig with the 2x60's, do you still believe the original issue you had with the 2x32 still stands? or did you subsequently find some other reason that they didnt work for you.
By the specs of the 2x32, I would have thought it should be sufficient for your motors.

Im checking with you on this before I purchase. I have 450W 24V motors in my build. By the specs, I would have thought the 2x32 should be OK. But not based on your experience.
If I have to to go with 2x60's , so be it but at around AUD$300 in Australia , and I dont want to overdo it for nothing.

Wow! Awesome post - managed to drink 4 cans of Guinness whilst I read through the first 44 pages!

Got a little excited, as I was to proffer myself for a fat bastard test for your rig - and then read you had someone who was 18 stone on it, so that was that!

I remember reading you kept the railways running - as do I ;)

So, I would dearly love to do this - I adore Dirt Rally and have a OSW and wind mod already - but I am upstairs in thee spare room and I know I pissed of the neighbour with my shakers and got rid as a result.....

......now my mind is thinking, "instead of buying a bike...." with the proceeds of the future sale of my TVR, I am thinking something very VERY different!!!!

Thanks for the post and inspiration - awesome stuff! (and keep the updates coming mate!)

    Regards
    Phil

It's been a while since I read all this thread, but I believe @SilentChill had MotoMonsters before and upgraded to Sabertooths 2x60. I don't remember he having any issues with 2x32.

There was a brief period around Nov and Dec 16 (from pg 31) where he tried the 2x32's
At pg 34 is when @SilentChill gave up on them and switched to 2x60's

The more I think about it, I will likely go for the 2x60's anyway to keep plenty of headroom for now and the future.

Im looking for reviews on these, https://www.cytron.io/p-mdds60
Struggling to find anything on them. Only a little cheaper at A$235, probably not worth the saving compared to proven Sabertooth 2x60's

You can also add the kangaroo to the sabertooths and use optical encoders.

Amazing project. I haven't gone through the 45 pages yet but will do in the near future to find out interresting info I am sure.
I just built a scale model of a 6DOF and I am working with SKetchup physics to have the same render as yours. Did you manage to make it work properly all the way ? I mean, mine acts weird when the servo angles gets higher (not that high though, somewhere around 30 degrees approx. I would say).
Anyway, I'll try to post a video soon.
