Hello. Motion platforms have captured my interests and im doing a bit of resarch but i need help on a few questions because i am going to run either oculus rift or the HTC Vive i have now on the motion platform along with my Hotas.

    Soo to the questions:
I am a littlebit unsure of what motion platform feels best for flight simulators, is it joyrider, 6 dof models or this one?

i was thinking about making the motion platform of metal or wood, i have both experience in welding and littlebit wood working. My current budget for the motion platform is 3500-4000 Dollars.

Another question, do the simtools work with 3DS MAX modelling program?

Dredging up an old thread here, I know, but as to materials...

There are designs around using both. If you can weld, box steel is probably your best bet. Strong and light enough. Using timber generally winds up heavier for the same strength, plus it's not as consistent.

I've actually been pondering recently the possibility of a composite structure.. Polypropylene hexagonal cored sheets can be had for cheap, and are amazingly strong and light at the same time. Skin it with fibreglass/basalt/carbon depending on budget, and you'd wind up with a very strong and stiff structure that is also lightweight.

Inspiration for that style of construction comes from comes from the guys that made this EV nicknamed 'trev'

That one's a different material, but the same concept. The same team have more recently done https://africansolartaxi.com/category/construction/ which is the sort of material & techniques I'm referring to.
