I am a bit confused about whether a 6DOF and G-Seat serve the same purpose but in different ways, or whether they do different but complementary things. From the G-Seat info I've read it sounds like it can provide 6 DOF, but the info also often discusses sustained g forces.

I ask because I have a DOFReality H6 but my son responds well to G forces / crushing force etc. (as many autistic people do). So just wondering whether building some sort of G-Seat/G forces into the DOFReality makes sense.

    Thanks.

Even a 6DOF has limitation when it comes to simulating a sustained force, and that is where G-Seats, G-Pressure and G-Head systems come into their own.

Motion rigs and G systems can be used together, though some like @SeatTime, who pioneered DC powered 6DOF rigs, is now pushing the limits of G systems instead, as a stand alone alternative.

Any sim will benefit from fitting G-systems, motion or not.
