Thanks a lot guys, this is a lot of information. I was told today that there is a place locally that may sell those kind of parts, but they are only open on week and I work away from home on the week. But I know a red neck (he calls himself that way) that love everything about cars (He made me buy the racing seat). I may find those parts used with his help, now that I know what to look for.

I will also have to bug my other friend to add a back plate to the actuator design.

    Finish the base.

    Finish the power supply.

    Design the potentiometer gears.

    Stop being lazy.

@Pierre Lalancette I hope you're going to allow all these friends a ride on the simulator once it's complete. Sounds like a fun race night to be had. ;)

Indeed! They already came to my house to test VR with my Vive.

Can't wait to organise a simulator night.

I have looked for those parts. So far, I have found nothing.

The alibaba site says 1-3 dollars, but it's 7.50 dollars for 50 minimum order when you contact them.

All other that I have found are about 200 to 500 pieces order. My mechanic friend came to the same conclusion.

Those parts are really hard to find.
Unless you live in China and have a good contact with a manufacturer.

Did you have hard time to drill the hole? I was warn 2 times that it would be hard. I do not have much mechanical skill.

Maybe I am looking too much for the perfect part, but my actuator are quite heavy right now and I am looking for something strong. There is a lot of U joint out there, but with easy fitting to an actuator, not that much. I need to be more creative I guess.

I checked the dealer. Did not see any part that look like a flange U joint. Did not search that hard tho. They say drive line and that's about it. The closest dealer is 5 hours away. But, there is other dealers around I am sure. I am just not well aware about the mechanic world.

Can get what I want from a computer request. Will have to get out the door and search into the real world... Scary.

Why ship a 5lb brick when i can guarantee there's one locally, you just need to call around. China is NOT the solution here.

I really liked the attaching plates of those chinese parts. The one you show me do not have them. They have to be added. Not a big deal, but, if I would have been able to get some for 7.50$, it would have been a bargain.

Last ressort. Go outside and search... Scary. :)

I was in the same boat, I searched everywhere for a double flange u-joint and found this website.

    Driveshaftparts.com

I picked up two flanges and a ujoint to build my own double flange ujoint assembly.

In the end I ended up just using the ujoint and 3D printed my own flanges though.

I print everything with pla, .35mm layer height and 50% fill.

They are very heavy and have stood up to my extremely scientific can I stand on it test with no flex. They are reinforced with u-bolts and use a real u-joint so they are very smooth.

Impressive Hoddem, When i had seen that U joint in your thread I thought it looked a bit funny but didn't look into it much..... Now its confirmed. Awesome dude. :cheers

I would maybe do it in PETG for sheer easy of conscience. :)

I had an other idea that may fit my rig and base better, but...

@Hoddem , can you share your print file? That thing looks fantastic!

Of course, I have everything in my dropbox folder for anyone that wants it (the files are too large to upload).
    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xktbe5wp8bm9286/AAAYpmETkyo2VQaC_10z1lgga?dl=0

The print files are in the folder "3D Print Files" you want the following files
    U-Joint Flange - Actuator Side
    U-joint Flange - Base Side
    U-Joint Cap

Also in the export folder there is a .stp file for each that can be imported into fusion 360 for easy modification or to grab dimensions.

I designed the pars to use a Spicer 1310 series u-joint
    http://www.driveshaftparts.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=216&search=spicer+1310
    and 1/4 x 1-1/8 u-bolts
