    Another thought...

What happens if you just push the reset button on the Arduino MEGA... if this restarts it working then the issue is unlikely the PC/Simtools. If you have to reset it using the device manager then the comms have failed from PC to Arduino.

I overlooked reading this post so it appears the sabertooth is timing out after all; that's good at least! But to make sure its not power related I would try running both tables on but with the sabertooth unpowered or with the serial line disconnected to see if you still have an ard crash.

wow so many inputs! Thank you all so much I really appreciate your help. I am sure we will pin down the source of the issue.

Hi all, something very weird happened today. You know testing is time consuming and after doing a to-do list I began to test this morning, despite of the lack of time ;)
    • First limiting the axis generally instead of the forces individually did not change anything.
    • A button reset of the Ard did not change anything
Then I was connecting the SB (Sabertooth) to an other PC via USB and was starting Decribe on this PC to control the outputs using the diagnose tool. Only not to mess the used PCs TYI:

1 Game PC (1), running the Game and GameManager
    1 Notebook (2), running GameEngine
    1PC (3) running Describe.

Now I started the Game and it worked all well - after a short moment Describe was crashing but the rig was still running. I did some laps without any problems. Now I let windows on PC (3) choose the best settings for Describe to avoid any crashing, and in deed after windows has solved the incompatibilities Describe did not crash - but the Arduino crashed as usual. I set back Describe to the old settings, again Describe crashed consequently but the Ard was still running. I was driving many laps (~40minutes) and nothing happened. It was still working...while Describe was still crashed.

Unfortunately today I have no more time to dig deeper into this issue, but tomorrow some spare time will be left for testing. I dunno if this was by accident or I can reproduce this issue. We will see...

So... If you are running Describe properly, Ard is crashing ? And if Describe crash, the Ard works properly o_O ?

Can you try without Describe (when the Ard works fine) ?
Maybe you can open a new case at dimension engineering

If your rig is running fine when Describe is not running then you found your problem; but you really don't have one. Once a sabertooth has been programmed using Describe you don't need it anymore so its senseless to have is running anyway. The only thing you really need Describe for is to initially set the baud rate of the sabertooth to what you need unless you plan to play with a custom throttle curve or the like too.

    all wrong ;)

The rig is NOt running fine when Describe is NOT running. Only when Describe is running and crashing (I do not shut down Describe, it hangs all the time) the rig is running fine, comprendere? ;) This seems to be unbelievable, and really I cant imagine that this is true, so I wait until tomorrow to start the second test.

Ah, I forgot to mention that I am running the diagnosis tool - so Describe is always connected to the Sabertooth.

Today no issues if Descibe is hanging on... lol. I do not investigate any more time at the moment because it runs fine. But I will have a look at it later this month.

Is your rig working if your Sabertooth is Usb plugged and Describe NOT running ?

From memory I think not, but I will test Friday when I am back from foreign.

Do you still use those yellow shakers ? Just attached some to my rig today but i feel almost no vibration from them. also they do get a bit warm after a few minutes.
So i'm not sure whats up, specially because those are my first shakers, maybe its just a matter of attaching them right.

Yes they do the job... they need a resonance case for swinging - can you attach a photo of your build?

I attached them completely opposite of what you did. Have you created a actual resonance case for them, or do they just use the inside of the rig ?

Sorry but you really should be posting this to your own build thread, or the building QA thread, but not here.

As you have included @Pit in the post he will get an automated notification, so will know about it, there is no need to clutter another member's build thread with questions that really relate to your own project.
