I have posted this about 15 times already, and people still get it wrong...

You need IRL 44N, a LOGIC LEVEL MOSFET, and NOT IRFZ 44N, NOT IRF 3205.

Re: Wiper Motin Projekt Protocol by Interview 2010

There is a small error in the part list! The IRFZ44 part is actually the IRL44N model
(There is difference between IRFZ44 and IRLZ44N !!!! You need the IRLZ44N ones!!!!!!
The ones without N are not able to fully turn on by the 5v logical system of the h-bridge! )

Re: Wiper Motin Projekt Protocol by Interview 2010

The N doesn't matter in the end. It is the L you need, meaning LOGIC LEVEL -> turns on with 5V.

The H-Bridge only has 5V to turn on the low side MOSFETs, regular ones turn on with 10-12V. If you don't use LOGIC LEVEL, they will heat up very fast and won't give you full power.

Instead of PM's, please post your questions here. Maybe others can benefit from it.

Yes you need the IRL 44(N). You can also use any other LOGIC LEVEL mosfet that has the same Gate-Drain-Source pin order and handles the current you need.

Re: Wiper Motin Projekt Protocol by Interview 2010

Yes that is right too, but why would you pay more, for less?

    Use crystals 14.7456MHz or 18.432MHz.

I hope you know what you are doing when it comes to putting it together!
In my opinion you should try the Pololu jrk 12v12...

Re: Wiper Motin Projekt Protocol by Interview 2010

    i use crystals 24Mhz..

    In this pololu controller:
    Peak output current: 30 A
...well, i don't no.... maybe it's to small.

Re: Wiper Motin Projekt Protocol by Interview 2010

Why would you use 24MHz? The At8535 is rated for 16MHz maximum...

If you don't know if 30A is too small, maybe you should listen to those who know.
Most wiper motors draw less than 20A peak...

Unless you get a truck or bus wiper motor with long arms and heavy load, 30A will be enough and you will save a lot of headache.

Re: Wiper Motin Projekt Protocol by Interview 2010

Afais, your Reichelt partlist contains parts for both the AMC and the h-bridge in a mixed up order. The effort to check it isnt in relation to your effort to reorder something missing.
Simply order what's on your list so far, and start soldering. You'll notice what's missing along the way ;D

Thanos has been able to successfully run the 8535 with 24khz. However, mine didnt, and I had to step back to 22khz. Its possible to run it with 24khz though. Depends on the batch qualitiy I guess.

    regards

Re: Wiper Motin Projekt Protocol by Interview 2010

    That why i use 24MHz ;)

Tronic's AVR motion controller v1.5 Parts:
    IC chips:
    1- ATmega8535 16PI (rated on 16Mhz) (I overclocked it using a 24Mhz crystal)
An ATMega644 is also shown here as future replacement (different firmware required)

    you must read :p

Re: Wiper Motin Projekt Protocol by Interview 2010

Are you telling me that I must read about overclocking a microcontroller to 150% of it's maximum clock?
You go ahead and do what you want. But please don't come back crying if it doesn't work... :D

@ego: You are right, it depends on the batch. Either way, you are not really gaining anything by overclocking, only increasing the chance of failure and errors.

Oh.. and not to mention the error rate of the UART clock. Frequencies other than multiples of 1.8432MHz will have a % error in the BAUD rate generator...

Re: Wiper Motin Projekt Protocol by Interview 2010

    Well, you gain cycle speed.
However, I'd recommend a safer overclocking speed like 18-22khz.

Re: Wiper Motin Projekt Protocol by Interview 2010

In the case of the AMC, cycle speed won't affect the performance what so ever. The only thing you might notice is the PWM frequency if it is in the audible range below ~18kHz.

The USO is limited to 1kHz output rate (1ms delay) and I see no reason to have a faster PMW duty% refresh rate. If the firmware cannot calculate the P term that fast, there are serious issues with it.

If I rememeber right, this was the reason for overclocking that much
