I've been lurking around here for a while and have finally decided to start my own project. It will be a Prosimu style build with two actuators mounted vertically in the front with a u joint in the rear on a traction loss frame. I am using a kit from Simxperience which uses scn6 40kg 150mm. The rig will be built out of 2" aluminum tubing while the motion frame will be 2.5" square aluminum tube. Fabrication of the rig and motion frame will start later this week. Hoping to have an assembled, functional rig within a month. I have built a raised platform in my living room for it to sit on and keep the cables and electronics concealed. Build will use the following hardware:
    OSW direct drive wheel
    Fanatec v3 inverted pedals
    Pro Sim H pattern

Dropped the materials off at my friends fabrication shop, he has done all the fabrication for my track cars over the years. At the last minute I've decided to abandon the prosimu mounting. I've decided to make a actuator mount that will have a rod end on it. Which will mount the body of the actuator at the bottom extending the rod upwards. This now moves my mounting point up significantly. But the front support hoop for the steering wheel will be an ideal spot for the mount. The traction loss base will look just like the prosimu unit. The actuator mounts on that will be 3ft apart. The actuators will go straight up to the mounts on the chassis. What I've been searching trying to figure out, is should the mounts on the chassis be narrower so the actuators lean inward? This is the basic concept of the chassis. cockpit1.jpg cockpit3.jpg cockpit.jpg

Traction loss frame will be complete today. Turntable is rated for 500lbs. It will also have 6 ball transfers mounted in it. 4 in the rear bar, two on the outsides of the front bar. received_10210902985830015.jpeg

Ordered a scn5 100mm today to add a harness tensioner to the build. Hoping to get a good amount of the chassis done tomorrow.

Been waiting on this thing for a long time. The scn5 is the only thing I'm waiting for. Hoping to have fabrication wrapped up next week. 20180216_095255.jpg

Not anything other than shifting it on the table. It showed up just before I was hauling my current rig over to my buddies fab shop so he had dimensions to work off of. I've been waiting month's already, what's a couple more weeks? Lol

    Thanks

I ordered the 3 scn6 package from Simxperience. I then ordered the single scn5 from them a little later. I think they only sell single actuators to existing customers.

Thanks, I'd love to take credit for the metal fabrication, but my friend is far superior and has a fully equipped shop, so its just better to pay him. The plan is for this to look like a commercially bought rig when complete. He has a plasma table so there have been talks of cutting out gussets and brackets with designs in them.

Sorry for the crude drawing, art has never been a strong skill set of mine. Made some revisions to the chassis design. Decided to put the mounting plate above the wheel and put it in a hanging configuration to maximize knee clearance. Also making the uprights for the wheel sweep backwards to give more clearance getting in and out. My friend is working on this in between other projects, so its taking longer to complete. But he is busy for good reason, the quality is worth the wait.

Revival from the dead. Unfortunately my fabrication buddy has been busy with stuff outside the shop. But progress rolls on. I feel his work is worth the wait. received_10211531358218932.jpeg received_10211531346538640.jpeg

Very nice. Are you going to use SimTool or SimX SW? It would be very interesting if you can offer a comparison video between SimTool and SimX SW running on your setup:

Tune Up Heave on SimTool SW vs Tune up Vertical g and front suspension bump on SimX SW.

    thanks

I have both programs so I can certainly compare them.
