Ciao! I approached to the realization step by step and at the end the choice fell on a Sabertooth 2x25A! :thumbs

Ciao! :thumbs

What difference does it have with IBT2?

I do not know in detail the ITB2 H bridge, but the sabertooth has the advantage that it can be driven with only 2 wires (serial).

The Sabertooth H bridge has 2 channels (can drive 2 motors) and there are several models from 12A to 32A per channel (if I remember correctly) and is already installed with the heat sink.

Where do you buy universal joint? I want to buy one in Italy that could be with flange

It 'a long history ... The coupling is quite robust; It was taken from the steering column of a large tractor (taken from a scrap yard ...) and has a diameter of about 5/6 cm.
Obviously I had to weld it (you have welded on a plate 6mm thick).

Unfortunately I am stopped because of a mechanical problem to a geared motor (defective :( factory).

    Montaggio motori su telaio...

Engine assembly on the frame ...

Unfortunately I can not upload the video, but the engines seem to work fine by simtools! :)

Meanwhile, the structure has undergone some changes ...

After so long time, I can finally post some progress.
There are still a few things to put in place, but they start to work.
It's just a short video.... I will post more details as soon as possible. ;)

Great to see your rig in action, well done :thumbs

Now comes the motion profile refinement, and it will help others give advice if you post all your settings plus a video clearly showing the movement and game screen at the same time.

Just a suggestion, once lever movement exceeds about 40 degrees up or down it is pretty inefficient in terms of torque. You may want to reduce yours a bit before you get into motion profile refinement.

    Thanks for the advice.
At this time the maximum excursion is calibrated for 160° (max Up to min Down).
I've tuned it to get the maximum pitch when I drive uphill and downhill (with the oculus rift the feeling of uphill and downhill is great!).
Do you think it's better to drop it to max 80°/90 °?
The motors torque should be sufficient (always if I get them to 24v...;)).

As soon as possible I will upload all the data you have suggested and a better video. :grin

It is up to you to decide how you want to tune your rig but over 40 degrees up and down the motors are under additional strain as they are not able to effectively use torque, that is just physics, and the less effective they are the more they will possibly struggle in delivering precise movement.

Personally I prefer and recommend fast but precise movement for VR over larger axis but less controlled movement.
