So, I did go down the route of VR and got a Rift. Nothing too extravagant but for the price I couldn't go past it.
I don't think I'll stop playing non-VR games as I really love my monitor on my gaming PC and the resolution that comes with it. Having said that, when the day arrives that VR comes with extremely high resolutions (without having to take out a loan to pay for it and sell body parts to get a PC capable enough), VR will be even more amazing!
I have spent some time trying things in VR and it is like everybody says...very immersive! I still have to set it up on the SIM PC and get into racing.
BTW....Google Earth VR is very cool. Re-visiting places I have not been in years...

Welcome to the VR club :cheers

VR is awesome for general games, but combined with motion, transducers and quality peripherals is the most immersive VR experience currently possible.

Keep in mind that you may want to revisit and refine your motion profiles. Often you will find a little less overall axis range and refined precision works best with VR.

    Thanks @noorbeast. :cheers

I am looking very much forward to setting it up on the sim. I am fully expecting to play around with the motion profiles too even though I don't think I have a very large range of motion as it is. But, I can already see that the profiles may need some attention to set them up for VR as I imagine that the visuals will be quite different and the body/brain will likely interpret things differently. I will find out in the near future.

One question I have though is the matter of motion cancellation...is it required for a seat mover and how is it implemented? I have not had time to research this yet but will surely do some reading on that topic.
I'm still at the entrance of the rabbit hole that is VR...:grin

Thanks for the link mate. I will check it out and have a read.

I was lucky enough to try VR before buying it. I thought I might have issues with motion sickness and the like but was pleasantly surprised when it did not make me feel uncomfortable.
But it is good advise anyway, start with short sessions and go from there.
I have to say though that "a quick few minutes" seem to disappear pretty fast:rolleyes:
