    Hi All

My understanding of the numbers is both are 16mm long but 05 or 10 is the pitch.

So is my understanding correct in saying that a 1610 would move up/down faster (less area to cover) but a 1605 would give better finite movement ?

If so … then would a 1605 be better for a 6 DOF for sim racing ?

16mm is the diameter of the screw. For long strokes the screw might be bending when rotating, causing vibration, that's why you see some long actuators use 2510 or 2025, which is is either 25mm or 20mm diameter and more rigid.

The pitch is how fast it can be, while sacrificing a bit of the load ability. Usually these are the max speeds you can get with a 3000RPM motor:

    5mm leadscrew = 250mm/s
    10mm leadscrew = 500mm/s
    25mm leadscrew = 1250mm/s

The load on your platform will determine what combination of motor power, max RPM, leadscrew diameter and pitch you need...

Im assuming the “/s” part is per second ?

so fundamentally the 10mm is twice the speed of a 5mm

    is my understanding correct ?

    Yes
Yes /s is per second and yest 10mm is twice the speed of a 5mm, but more speed at the cost of load capacity.
