With VR you don't need much axis rotation, it is actually far more important that the axis movement is fast and accurate with no lag.

Great project, nice to see how it develops.
You inspire me to rebuild my 2-dof rig to a 3-dof one :grin

More progress on the electronics. I'm just waiting on the USB hub and short usb cables for the inside. I'll have the JRKs wired up tomorrow. I have my cat5e cables done for my eSstop.
I have 3 fans running. 120mm pushing air inside, another from the side 80mm pulling in air and another 80mm pushing out air. The latter two will be providing air flow for JRKs. Photos to come.

From what I have read here, smaller joints may need supports added. This larger joint is strong enough for a very heavy setup and there is no risk of it buckling / breaking.

Electronics all done! I really enjoyed this part of the build.

I plan to connect the Cat5e cable to my eStop so I can turn on the power and configure the JRKs to windows. Potentially a project for this week :)

Hi, thanks for asking. I was having an issue with my cat5e cable wiring in order to get the PSUs running with a green light ie. jrks working. Really really strange as all the individual wire leads coming from the PSUs themselves worked but once in the cat5e connector some voodoo occurred and the wiring no longer responded with any logic. In the end I got if all to work but only through trial and error matching wires. It was as if there were wires crossed between psus but of course they were isolated.
Anyhow I will get the JRKs configured in Windows now.
Also life has been very busy and I haven't had much energy to work on the project late at night.
It's coming though. I am ordering some additional plates to mount my flight controls to the seat as well.

Happy to report the JRKs are setup in windows and test ok using the utility. Now I need to move forward with the build process. Likely wont get rest of plates until 2 weeks, then I will be powdercoating them. Then ordering 8020 and onto the build phase after that.

Wow Seb! this is a very cool project!
I am currently trying to gather info to build a 2 DOF Seat mover (and eventually with traction loss), and your thread covers a lot of things very well.
It is so well built it is almost overwhelming and kind of scary. It is making me reconsider my plans and my ability to do this. But I guess we all go through this when you are no engineer...
Anyway, thanks for the very well documented thread.
