    wow. I am using only low values (Kp=120 and PWMMax 160), because the rail platform is not connected to the wall and I am still a little bit afraid :p but this table rocks already - :popcorn

    PS: next week I will explain what I did, what was difficult and which gadgets I used. I am very happy that my concept seems to be successful yet - dunno what happens when the heavy rig lies on it.

    today I wanted to test higher speed - and now I have run into the next issue: :(

    The motors stall into one direction at the beginning of a turn, only by pressing against the table - and notabene only a very light pressure...any suggestions?

    PS: this happens only if the turns are very abrupt, if the moves are smooth like a sine no problems...

    OK, I have more information: if the kp value is to high and only if the moves changes very abrupt then the motor stalls at the beginning. IMO by knowing the moves of racing simulation for surge and sway I need accelerating and not from zero to 100 in 1/1000 second...

    I would check the usual suspects, motor stall current/driver shutdown. Maybe some smoothing would help? FI, I could never stop my surge table by hand.

    It would be helpful to know how much current your motor is drawing when it “stalls” to see if that could possibly be causing the driver to protect itself. In the mean time, have you tried reversing the motor wires to see if the problem reverses or stays the same? And lacking current readings you could also try connecting multiple drivers like you did the MM’s to see if more current helps.

    The motors stall only if the direction of moving changes and the current is at 100%. Yesterday I tested LFS and it worked well even when I was bumping into the wall but had to reduce the Kp from 400 to 200 at full speed.
    Thank you for the suggestions, reversing the polarity I will check this out.
    Depending the driver I switched yesterday from a half-bridge mode to the single driver mode, because the latter does not damage the rig if only one motor stops due to a driver failure - that would be a fatal situation. I will try out one VNH only for one motor. Unfortunately I am going to France for the next few days so my tinkering has to be stopped...

    It certainly sounds like it needs more driver current.

    if so that would blame the drivers because the max. current of one motor is 7A (24V notabene).

    Yes, but their specifications have them drawing three times max current on start up + load inertia on a change in direction. Worth a try:).

    you should try to put 100kg / 150kg (the weight of a pilot plus equipment) above ... seeing the engine I have a big doubt about the outcome.
    what is the power of these small engines?
    good luck ..

    is the maximum speed?

    tested today an additional load of 200kg including me (the tables are each more than 20KG, so at least 250kg weight) - the table speed is the same, nothing stops and I was afraid that the slabs would falling down. The issue of the motor stalling is only under max Kp and max PWMpower power when abrupt reversing, so I am very pleased about the test from today. Only worrying about the gears they hopefully do not break sometime...

    :eek::oops::confused::mad:
    PS: Derek added a heel-and-toe adapter which I use for the broken part. Derek is not responsible for the damaged parts, but I complained the scratches on the pedals and the craftsmanship finish (not tighten screws firmly)

    Ouch!!

    How did that happen, I would have thought the shaft would withstand almost anything.

    There is a drilled hole in the shaft, IMO a big and fast hit has broken the shaft (like a bone...). Nothing else is damaged, Derek added a heel-and-toe adapter which I can use to repair the pedals (anyway at the moment I prefer heel-and-toe)

    Exactly :thumbs ...
    ===========================================================
    plus I have an Idea for the sudden abrupt motion stalles the motors at the beginning ... :nerd
    Add side springs to the rack ...
    like the springs in the clutch disk of the car ... absorbs/push/smoothen the sudden changes in the motor rpm .

    Untitled.jpg

    this will need to make the rack lateral moving a little bit as the spring length .

    Many parts disassembled (the springs of the brake have not been very well adjusted, quasi oblique-angled) and assembled even in a different and wanted way, some screws have not been tightened before and I shorted the mini shaft of the clutch potentiometer for a wider angle. Now the pedals looks nice and I hope it will do the job :)
