    Hello everyone

    We are juniors from a school in Belgium. We are a huge fan of F1 Formula racing and the wild idea came to us to make a racing simulator in our classroom. Our teacher gave us green light, so we started to scramble as much materials as we could find in our school to make this project come true. In the proces we stumbled upon this site. The projects on this site inspired us and we wanted to share our progress of the simulator.
    We think we started the project with a good beginning. We made a circuit with an Arduino uno. The circuit contains an Arduino, servo motors (we assume from a CNC), an ibt_2 board and DIY hall sensors.

    We focused mainly on the project of @scruck and @Halloween2go. So a huge thanks to this guys to give us inspiration.

    These are our first steps towards the racing simulator.
    We started with connecting a servo motor to an Arduino with the ibt_2 board between it. Instead of a hall sensor we used a potentiometer, this kinda worked but it was not how we wanted it.

    Here is a close-up of the servo motor we used;

    Then we added a second motor and started to use hall sensors. For testing we use a program SMC3Utils.

    This link is a of the working hall sensor. So far this is all the progress we made.

    To do: designing better hall sensor specifically for our motor

    After tons of experimenting with the hall sensor, we found an easy concept which is printable en reliable. Afbeelding(1) (1).jpg Afbeelding (1).jpg

    This is a video of how it is working now, the tongs are applied to see better how far the motor turns.

    To do: making a second setup for the motor.

    Great to see the progress :thumbs

    When do you expect to put the actual rig together for testing?

    We are planning to build the rig right after we are done testing our motors. The first prototype we make will be out of wood so we can easily adjust things before we make the final product. We hope that the wooden rig is done mid februari. Because we first need to do exams.
