    I don't use IRacing

I hear the tracks are laser scanned and are good

You have to pay for every car / track ?

is the motion and racing any good ?

I've been on iRacing since 2012 or so. I've seen it progress on many fronts. My statements are just my opinion and I encourage you to check out some youtube videos.

I'll say that iRacing is excellent. The people who race there are for the most part very focused on driving to ensure a clean and challenging race. The system used to establish races, places you into them with people of "similar" race ability.

It can be frustrating in the beginning to get out of the rookie series as most are getting used to sim racing, they don't employ proper race craft when it comes to passing and everyone wants to win on the first few laps. Patience, staying back, studying the driver in front and finding your passing opportunities is what wins races in the rookie series. Later you'll have plenty of clean racing with stiff competition. You can join some leagues where the racing is even more focused and race craft is stellar.

Tracks are fantastic, lots of details etc. It translates superbly into motion and vibration of road texture. I use a seat mover with traction loss and transducers. It also runs great in VR. You can even turn up graphic settings at a loss of distance rendering which is a good compromise in my opinion. Generally the game runs very well on most machines due to the flexibility (complexity) of graphics options. I recommend a good CPU, didnt think so until I got an i9. You should always run a CPU that can max out your GPU otherwise one or the other will limit your frame rates.

Try it out for a month.

I managed to get a cheap deal for starting on iRacing for only about £20 for the first year. Which sim is best is very subjective and some people get aggressively protective over their favourite title, but I personally think that they are all good in different ways.

I found the physics in iRacing to be good and personally feel that it is excellent compared to other sims when it comes to braking and locking up your wheels. I haven't used it as much as I thought I would though. Although there is plenty available multiplayer of a good standard, I'm more fond of doing a 10 min qualifier and a 10 lap race several times than spending a couple of hours perfecting the one track and car waiting for the race to begin but it depends on what you're after. You can (usually) expect to get some good clean racing in the higher classes, but not always!

There are also good multiplayer drivers in other titles but if you are on an open sever and not in a league, it tends to be a mixed bag. iRacing can be relatively expensive, but those who love the competitive multiplayer would say that it is well worth the money. In my opinion it's geared more towards those who get more enjoyment from winning than driving, perhaps that's unfair, but the driving realism is good in it.

If you play in VR, then AMS2 or PC2 are most VR friendly as all the menus can be accessed easily in full VR. Otherwise, good old AC or ACC (Gt3 cars only) are also good sims. People argue endlessly which title is 'best' or 'most realistic' but in reality all these are very good. In 20yrs time I expect it will be amusing to think back on how realistic we thought they were at the time. (I used to think gran turismo 1 had amazing graphics and physics in the 90s!). You can get good telemetry and therefore motion and feedback effects from all the main racing sims with a bit of tweaking.

Where did you find the deal for a i racing download ?

Today i down loaded and patched i racing

The motion seems very pants compared to rf2

There is hardly any motion at all and then you get loads when the car is unstable

Is there settings for motion i have not found yet ?

If you want to start iRacing to try it out, their Black Friday sale is going on now and it's the cheapest time of year to subscribe. You can get started with very little content (just using the free tracks). https://www.iracing.com/irbf-sale-ad-2021/

Sim racing garage did a motion review/setup earlier this year. From what I recall Barry config in both simtools and SRS, and he was using iRacing so his guide may help with motion: http://simracinggarage.com/

Just like sims, car/track is a personal preference. I like GT so I currently race GT3 and GTE series in iRacing. My recommendation is to level up licenses in the type of racing you like (GT/formula, oval, dirt oval, dirt road). I would do it mostly with free cars and try the others series to find what you like. I started racing oval because iRacing is the de-facto sim for oval racing (nothing else really compares), but now haven't done an oval race in a long time.

He has done a lot of motion reviews, that's a different one than I was thinking.

Here is the one with SRS and his initial setup:

Here is the setup he is doing with Simtools:

I bought a subscription in May using the code PR2022NEXTGEN which gave a $90 discount. I'm not sure if they run this type of promotion every year though.
