Wanted to see about starting a thread to get reliable links and pricing to start building an actuator for 6dof units like flypt and peacemakers. I’m looking at all the parts from AliExpress and alibaba but the shipping cost to the US are getting out of hand. I have nothin but time though if it saves me some money in the long run.

What are your experiences and the like.

USA - current quoted costs for servo motors 6- 220v 80st-m02430 version a with shipping is $1310 from AliExpress Master Jiang 3SMT store.
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/328...earchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_

Current quote - Ball screw SFU1610-650mm with end machine, nut, support FK12, coupling 10-19mm: $28/set plus $58 shipping on the boat from alibaba.
    https://www.alibaba.com/product-det...74.html?spm=a2700.12243863.0.0.38403e5f4Daex2

Current quote for aluminum tubing - $216 with shipping.
    https://www.alibaba.com/product-det...83.html?spm=a2700.12243863.0.0.38403e5f4Daex2

Total rough cost for 6 actuators parts thus far - $1752
Ordered a Thanoes controller from his new web store. Hopefully all the other parts will ship soon. Add $275 to the total spent so far.

parallel printer cables for Thanos Controller -
    Ordered from monoprice $30.85

Still need misc screws and need to print the parts when all the pieces arrive.

Well received the servo’s and thanoes aasd board so far. Need to get power ran to my basement to test them out. Waiting on my aluminum and my ball screws which the latter is on the slow boat, to get here!

Edit- 1/5/20 got my aluminum tubing and my uv joints are here now to continue printing all the plastic parts. Lots of plastic being used as I’m using 70% infill to keep parts stout. Hopefully it all holds up and are dimensionally correct. Had to reprint a couple pieces as they are coming out a little different sizes using petg vs pla.

Ok got the uv joints from rockauto.com, they are for a

I’m about $50 into all the threaded rod parts.

sorry I can not help you as far as settings yet. I am still acquiring parts and have not actually assembled anything yet. I did order the same servos from a different place though. If you go to https://www.thanos-motion.com/ you can get the aasd controller and there is additional information there. Otherwise visit the forum here - https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/amc-aasd15a-servo-controller. Sorry I can’t be of more assistance.

Well finally have a working actuator.
Did you find the info to setup the drive yet? Just got my first actuator built and moving with flypt software and the aasd from thanoes

Which wiring? Servos come with ready wiring. And just get off the shelf some male-male straight through db25 cables to connect the servos to the AMC-AASD15A... all plug and play, no need to custom make any wiring.

You are right, i just wasnt sure because of the simplicity of it all. Do yo know a vid or a manual about what to do after you plugged your servos and while using flytp software?

I don't have any video at hand, but its very straightforward, setup the FlyPT mover for the game you need as in the FlyPT manual (sources),
the poses, and finally the output where you select the "Thanos output module". It's straightforward from there, and you can ask for example profiles from others with similar equipment to see how things are setup.

Hi I am new to this and I am going to attempt a 6dof based on Peacemakers, I am finding it hard to get details on the ball screw side of things, I have opened the link to the ones you have listed, and it appears that I need to contact them and order custom sets as they list 1000mm and 2000m? .
I was wondering if you could advise me on what exactly I am to ask for?
I was thinking 650mm with a 10mm thread tapped in the end for a rose joint? is 1610 the agreed size/pitch these days for 80ST-M02430 with AASD15A servo driver or is 1605 the right one?
Any help with what to ask for would be greatly apprecited.

As far as 1605 or 1610 I went with 1610’s but I haven’t built more than just the actuators so far. I am still waiting to start my frame. I think it all depends on the weight you are trying to move and speed.
As far as the links. Yes you need to request the parts and quote from them directly. You can reference this Order No.64412171001021767 that will get you the tubes you need and a couple spares. You will have to ask them to tap the ends and I would confirm the lengths that you want.

Cheers for the reply, I went with 1610, I don't need to get the end tapped, I am tapped :) For some reason I thought Peacmaker was putting the rod end into the screw jack... then I woke up and realised he has a thread glued into the carbon tube. Otherwise it would just undo the rose joint as soon as it spun or lock up the other way :) cheers
