I mean, if there's no big performance gap between the two solutions, why not use a lower cost one? But because I have no comparison, I don't know how to choose.

Just choose. In a few months, you will want to redo it all again anyway. All sim makers are like that.

I really appreciate your project sir. what about the power of the nema 23 stepper motor?? have you tested it?? i have read found no comparison between nema 23 and my1016. in my country these two dc motors are still easy to find at reasonable prices lol. and whether you can use a ballscrew with a screw length of 150mm travel 110mm ( length nut 40mm) I want to try to make 2 dof, or if possible for 4 dof sir. If that's possible, I'll immediately buy the ballscrew, because it's in a used goods warehouse. confused whether to use nema 23 or motor scooter my1016 or my6812. Thank you sir. Or someone can answer my question

wow i like this a lot please do update us with the final product and parts and pricing as this looks like a future project for me once i become more knowledgeable in this science of motion rig lol.

mh nice work for the diy linear actuators ... is there a need for the end switches if i use standard 12v motors plus a hall sensor ?

I don't know what exactly a hall sensor is, but limit switches are never a bad idea. Not having them IS a bad idea.

just see it yet, you got also my1016 motors for your first design ...

so in the future i can do a similar design to yours ... its a good starting point ;D

i have a question, what was the last revision of your DC Motor version ?

only 1 hall sensor mounted in parallel to the motor shaft with a belt ?

did you use end stops ? do you have the arduino code and the partslist in your archive ;D
