I also read somewhere that there are left and right version of these. What is the difference? Which should I get?

You can use either, depending on the threaded rod chosen, but normal right hand thread is clockwise to tighten and counter clock wise to loosen. Make sure you use lock nuts.

So I have been looking, and I found this myself, it might not be the cheapest method/option to this, but it's solid though. This way you can just attach a steel plate on it and have your own lever length. That's probably how I am going to do it. I also see a small benefit which is that you can "slide" the whole lever a little bit over the shaft (might become handy for my platform specifically). If you order them make sure you are on the EU site (https://www.robotshop.com/eu/en). Then they will ship from EU warehouse and you avoid any duty taxes.

Those will work, so will using two nuts.

    Hi Mike,

How are you doing? I still haven't received my motors. So any progress hasn't been made on my end. I was wondering if you made some good progress?

I have bought a lot of stuff for the rig: Heusinkveld Ultimate pedals, shifter and handbrake, Simucube 2 Sport, SRC Cup Steering wheel with button box, a racing seat from motamec :) It's going to be great that's for sure! :D:cool:

I am currently making a "new" design in sketchup with new dimensions based on the seat and the distance that I need for my legs and pedals. So at least I have something to work on until I receive the motors :thumbs

I already have the rod ends and everything except the ujoint. Still looking :(

Uau...you are set to make an awesome rig :D

I don't have that kind of money so I going for the full DIY way: ordered a small mige motor to build an OSW and will be making my own pedals.
    So...progress on the rig is...0% :(

    What about this: https://www.citroen-traction-avant.com/en/shop/article/441=!316/Universal_joint_complete

I have also thought about building an OSW, but figured that I would be better of to purchase a Simucube because then you know for sure you have good feedback. But I am sure it's a fun project to do :)
Nice that you are going to create your own pedals. I guess you could already start with pedals and OSW though until you found your u-joint.

Yes, that would be ok but I am looking for something local. I already found a couple of option around 20-30€...will decide this week.

My OSW will be simucube...but only version 1. I will purchase simucube and the IONI board.

    The pedals are these:

Already negociating laser cutting fees :)

Those pedals are basically/literally a duplicate of Heusinkveld Ultimate by the looks. Do know the total build cost? Just interested how much something like that would cost to both laser cut, plus all parts.

I just ordered all my steel for the frame. Since I received my racing seat and pedals I was able to messure every distance between seat and pedals more accurate. And what was a comfortable position for me. So I restarted my design in sketchup and now ordered everything :p The design will allow for small sliding on seat, pedals and wheel base. I just hope my wheel base mount will be sturdy enough... Total cost of all metal parts (cutting included) was around 180. However I also purchased a lot of bolts and lock nuts and spacer which also cost another 90 or so. Now shopping for 18 rod ends which also are not so cheap I noticed lol. Plus I am in contact with gas spring company. I need 3 which cost around 100 each. My budget has been exceeded by doing that but it will be worth it.

    I hope you find a U-joint soon :)

The laser cutting with a stainless steel 3mm sheet included will cost me 100€.
    The loadcells costed me around 20€ (2 20kg + 1 100kg)
The bolts, nuts and rods costed me around 30€
    Springs 5€
The electroncis costed me around 70€ because I opted for quality leo bodnar ones. If I went with arduinos...I guess it would cost me around 10€.

I guess I will manage to build the pedals for under 250€

Wow that's really nice, if I known I might have gone the same route. What about H-pattern shifter? I haven't decided on that yet, so perhaps you know a good DIY way of doing this.
I just got the rod ends from a local company for just 2 EUR each :D
Also received the simucube 2 sport today with mount, but they forgot to include the 2 feet for the mount haha. But they said they will send them my way right now.

The only thing I am waiting for are the motors now... to be continued ;)

The shifter and handbrake I opted for the Fanatec ones. They are more than enough for me.

That's a GREAT price on the rods :)

Yeah I think the Fanatec H-pattern shifter is good. But I heard that if you are going to use it for both Sequential and H-pattern it can get damage. If you want to use it as H-pattern, I would advise to use it only as such and never switch to Sequential or between them. Got this advice from R-VR Closet on Youtube.

A friend of mine gave me a used steering (I guess) joint he had laying there.
The first picture is the one I have.
It is only 4cm wide. Would it be enough to support the seat? Or should I buy a big one?
The second one is from a Ford Transit and I can buy it for around 30€.

Personally I would go for the second one.
