No worries pal i kinda thought that might be the case. I really need to decide now do i go down the diy aasd & 10000 ppr route or save a bit more and just bite the bullet on a simucube based system. I really like the idea of what you have done though.

Ok, preparing my 90ST motor, seems it has enough torque for my needs lol.

Can't wait for the PCB for the MMOS controller to arrive and test!!

    Thanks

That is how they use to make the Simucube OSW back in the day with the argon drives and MMOS then you could flash the discovery board with the simucube firmware later on and use that. I guess time will tell..

Depends how much of a rush you are in really and your budget. I will probably one day still go simucube but if you need a wheel and want to get up and running, then for half the cost this is already proving to be a very viable solution.

how exactly does a 240v servo motor work

    from my understanding

    1. it converts AC to DC (some are induction motors)
    2. its basically a AC/DC motor with a built in sensor
    3. the driver is a bit like a brushless controller

what exactly does the chip/disco board do to control the motor ? Is it telling it which direction and how much pwm to apply - like an H-Bridge ?

I'm very interested in this project and trying to understand the pros/cons of this approach. Obviously the cost savings is significant compared to other dd solutions, which is the biggest pro. On the cons side it seems this approach limits you to a maximum of a 10000 ppr encoder and only able to use the MMOS software. Am I missing something? Any chance this could eventually interface with the simucube software?

I could almost convince the wife a $500 USD wheel is necessary, but no chance I'd get her to go for a $1k setup....

The custom pcb I designed, uses these DB9 connectors for original G27 shifter and Pedals. I happen to have these. But you can wire other type if you need to. But please give it some time to build and test a prototype first, I'll make available Gerber files, no worries.

Hey Guys, just a quick question, does anyone can point me to 3D printed solution for shifter paddles I could add to this rim? I'll use BlueHID obviously.

And when Logitech pedals and Logitech shifters were added I never thought that I need to attach other types So I just draw line DB9 Logitech interface and the line drawing is not perfect and looks bad

Hi @Thanos quick question while im hitting E-bay , when the now DDFFB pcb is released i notice you moved from through hole to surface mounted devices , You mentioned you'll possibly supply the just the board and or PCB & parts as kit , or ready built would be preferred but you may not have the time to do this ready assembled option in volume , is there a pic of an older populated R&D sample so that i can see what extra items will be needed to add to my shopping list , The wave share board wont be here in time so 1st draft will be using my STM32 discovery from my other DD FFB project so i cant use the new PCB till the Waveshare version arrives

There are not many parts on it, you may not even want to use the G27 pedal and shifter connectors if you use something else...

    Anyway see this update:
