    Hi Everyone!

    Im have started my 2DOF RacingSim about 1 month ago, just doing Solidworks projects and looking for any metalworker that would help me constructing the structure. Now i found someone and thought that maybe it's time to post this here.

    So, the ideia is something like a GO-Kart style, i dont have a lot of space for the rig in my room.
    Also, i will be using some kind of HMD / VR for playing, i was thinking if PSVR can be used, would be glad if anyone that had the same thought could help me.
    The games that i intend to play are Project Cars 2, DriveClub and Gran Turismo.

    I will be using:

    STRUCTURAL // RIG COMPONENTS

    For the structure i will be using metal tubes (5mm) for assembly, they will be welded for the kart-shape format.
    I will be using CV-Joint in the project...
    [IMG]
    ...along with steering rods for conecting the motor axis to the rig.
    [IMG]

    ELETRIC AND ELETRONIC COMPONENTS

    DC Motors ( 12VDC // 30RPM // 50N.m [Max] // 20A [Max] );

    Rotatory Encoders ( NPN // 5VDC~12VDC // 600PPR);

    H-Bridge MM - VNH3SP30 (30A // 20KHz );

    Some Thermal Pads and Paste along with Heat Sinks for the Bridge;

    Circuit Breaker for setting system ON/OFF and protection;

    Server Cooling Kit (Fans Rack) [Yeah it's kinda hot in Brazil haha];

    G29 / G290 and PSVR[If is possible to run the SimTools with PS4]//Oculus Quest[Or Rift S maybe] for gaming;

    And now the hardest part, what kind of controller should i use? Arduino? PIC Controllers? Some kind of SBC like Raspberry PI or ASUS Tinkerboard? Thats where im stuck too, would like some help.

    I already did some changes in the project, thanks to SimCalc, was very usefull for me, but still uncertain if the results are good for my intentions, would like opinions for that aswell.

    Now im looking for closing my bucket list for shopping parts this week, the structure will be done by the end of the month and April i will be testing consistently everyday of the week.

    I will be posting weekly reports and answering all the questions made in this post.
    It's good to have a communitary help for this projects!

    Following the meme, sorry for bad english xd.

    I used the Arduino Uno 3 for my project and I am happy with it. This is where I bought it from:

    Oh and do you already have the CV-joint? I have red that those are not as good as an ordinary drive shaft. Does It have any play when twisted?

    No i dont have it yet.
    I was thinkg of buying it, the mechanical characteristcs of it are good for this kind of project that needs freedom of movement. But i saw that some projects used Uni-Joint and Gimbal, are good options aswell. Im looking to have both at hands and have a better look at them before buying it.
    My metalworker guy also had a good ideia but would be custom made and expensive.

    I think Uni-joints are the way to go. Search "cv-joint" on this forum and you will find they are not a great option.

    I personally like the Arduino option more, the others I have not tried

    Even if im going to use it with a PS4? I will need another PC or Notebook to run SimTools right? That's what im thinking, maybe is better to have just one SBC doing all the work instead of having even more hardware in it.

    Let's see, regardless of the platform where you are going to play that in this case would be PS4, you will need a controller, the easiest thing would be to use arduino with SMC3 that can handle up to 3 motors, now, I think you can only have movement on your platform always and when PS4 games can send telemetry by UDP to the pc where Simtools is installed, I have never tried it, but if you look at the plugin download section you have Project Cars 2 UDP, if I am wrong they correct me

    Yeah i have seen some posts doing the UDP scheme to send data to a computacional unity and this attached to a controller. In the ideal world, i would use only one SCB running Simtools and conected to my MMs sending the data directly.

    Thanks for the replies, i will take a look in the plugins section.

    I made a basic schematic for the "System Box" (Stole that from another project that i saw here, brilliant ideia)

    Im thiking about changing the MMs to BTS7960, still doing my comparisons about them.

    hello leonardo, how's the project going? i'm brazilian and i'm "digging" the sim tools brazilians. I finished my simulator, I was following milestones 73 and saw your post, but it seems that it stopped? Do you know any of Belo Horizonte? I haven't found any yet.
    See you.
