    Hi all

i am planning to build a 2 dof motion simulator.
the main focus is rollercoaster rides. (Nolimits 2)
combined with Oculus VR. and FX like wind and vibrations.

maybe add some racing games later in the project.

at this stage i am playing with nolimits 2 and VR and in the mean time thinking and designing the rig.
i dont wanna go for a seat only, for me the movement is way to limited when using wiper motors.

my plan is to power the simulator with hoverboard wheels.
in fact not the wheels but the motors inside them. 2 pieces in each axis. (combined 700w power per axis)
opposite to wiper motors, hoverboard wheels dont have a max rotation. even possible to turn the simulator upside down.
i used this motors in a few projects and you will be supprised how powerfull they can be.
(pulled a car with a diy 2wd gocart)

this is the current setup i am planning to build.

note that this is only the metal frame work.
the frame will be covered with thin lightweight wood. (and a door)
the main purpose of this is safety. so when you "ride" the rollercoaster you keep your hands safe within the simulator, combined with shoulder restraints just like a regular rollercoaster.

i wanna make it as real as possible.

hope i can try out simtools soon to start testing with the interface.
see what data outputs i have and design the electronics from that point.

for now stay tuned and i will keep posting updates on the project

Did you make it work? I was wondering about hoverboard motors for a small 2DOF motion simulator. What parts did you use to make it work?Drivers, power supply... Thanks.

Some simulators can be smoke & mirrors.

I was also wondering about using hoverboard motors. Would certainly be cool. Definitely keep us posted!
