What you need to do is Mount the controller on your rig behind the seat just above your head, that providing your seat has some cushion or foam behind the seat material, get some bungeee rope and tie it on really strong and tight so the controller nestles into the seat, you should find a huge improvement. Basically what you are attempting is to suppress the vibration from the rig. I use Vive Pro the a Vive tracker behind my head at the top of the seat, my bucket seat is carbon fibre with leather and foam, I have no vibration at all. I’ve tried all sorts of solutions and that basic set up works best.
If you fit the tracker or controller to a mount and then mount again to the rig theirs no suppression,
If your sneat hasn’t got foam then fit some and try it out, I wish you luck and hope this fixes your vibration, by the way are setting the motion compensation to SET ZERO, you will need too.

Doesn't work with WMR it has to be in front of your inside out tracking cameras

Cant you just do the same at your mounting point by building up a cushioned area?
I get the same as you in your video if I mount onto any hard part of my rig with a clamp, I've tried gimbal rubbers, they don't work.
see pics below, my seat already had some foam under the leather, I inserted more from a bit of packing I found, (Last Photo)

Yeah tried all sorts but the way the WMR controllers are made it's really hard to secure all of it to stop the vibrations and little spikes.

Shame bout that, I'm thinking the only way to go is the Vive pro set up.

I use this openVR imput emulator for motion cancellation with pimax 5K+. A vive tracker is fixed back on my seat I use this as device. It works well but when my rig moves relatively further from home point, 3D projection of the nearest objects go wrong. It looks when parallel projection is needed or similar. All in all can not focusing with my eyes. So the car dashboard is unfocusable. When de rig comes back to start pont everythings come back to get focus.
    What could be wrong?

Can you share a video of what is happening so I can compare this end, use the mirror mode in steam Vr I'm wondering if the 5k is better at this than the 8k, I will do the same.
    Speak soon.

You can see it in the HMD only, because of the differences the left and right picture. So you can realise this issue in 3D virtual world but not in the 2D video. It looks like you increase the IPD settings to 80, 90 or even up to 100. your eyes can not focus that 3D picture the neares objects become double.
Imagine that. When rigs moving tilting left right and IPD settings increasing decreasing extremely. It looks the same.

Hmm, that could explain why other headsets work okay with motion cancellation but the Pimax does not.

Other headsets have their displays and virtual cameras in the same plane, but the Pimax is unusual in that it has them angled away from each other. I seem to recall that at one point OpenVR didn't even have support for representing that sort of headset geometry, so some games aren't prepared to deal with it, either.

What might be happening is that the camera translation/rotation added by motion compensation is ending up being done relative to the plane of each virtual camera. In that case, as the compensation offsets get farther from 0, the cameras would move roughly in the right direction but diverge from the correct position relative to each other, resulting in double vision or worse.

Anyway the viewpoint is fix and stable it's OK, but I guess this issue comes because of pimax has angled displays and openVR motion compensator calculate doesn't good for that.

Ok this is probably as good as I can get it, I printed a big enclosure for the handle of the WMR controller and then wedged a bit of 3x2 under the LED ring to stop any further vibration. It works kinda ok but there is still some juddering around.

    Hi guys

I'm trying to set up motion cancelling with my HTC Vive by using the suggested Open VR software in this thread.

As soon as I install the software my Steam VR starts in safe mode and Open VR does not work.
Is it working for all of you? Or what software do you use?

Any instructions or hints? Most instroctions are at least a year old and don't work for me.
    I appreceate any help.

    Many thanks,
    Vector

@JMB3D Wanted to let you know I got the OpenVR motion cancellation working extremely well with the Pimax 5K+ on Pitools.121 beta and Vive tracker mounted to the back of the seat. It works perfectly with my Buttkicker off, but with it on the vibration causes all kinds of tracking issues. If I can figure out a way to isolate the tracker I'll be good to go (or just not use the Buttkicker, which adds so much I can't imagine not using it).

Same problem here with the tactile transducers. I have some thoughts on this though.

I believe that at least part of the problem with trying to isolate the tracker from vibration is that in order for your vibration dampers (or foam or whatever) to work there would have to be a lot more weight than just the tracker itself. I'd say depending on what you are trying to use for your damping at least a few pounds. If you are just using foam (seat padding) probably more. I'm going to be doing some more experimentation in the coming weeks to try to get things to where I can use my tactile tranducers with motion compensation so I'll let you know how I make out.

Also, thus far I've had the tracker mounted to the top of my seat behind my head. Another problem I'm having is that the seat back moves (flexes) quite a bit and the tracker obviously moves with it. Due to this issue I'm going to be trying some compromises, including mounting the frame below my seat. I know this will introduce significant error, but I want to try it and see how bad it really is in practice vs. on paper.

Glad to see others are working on this!

I had planned on seeing some way to attach the tracker to some weight to make it less susceptible to vibration as well.

In the meantime I have purchased a shake kit from Sim Racing Studio. It’s a pad that goes on the seat that has 4 transducers. The idea was that if the whole rig wasn’t shaken (from the Buttkicker), maybe the lower vibration level would induce less tracking error. I can say that that, in fact, what has happened, but the shake kit doesn’t seem to be as precise as the Buttkicker (at least in my 2 hours of testing). Even then I still get tracking errors occasionally in some long straights. And the motion rig is dialed back so I’m definitely not using it to its full potential.

I have ordered the gimbal suggested above so I’ll see how that works.

I’m also thinking about a way to mount an Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal to alleviate the vibration.

All this is just trying to offset the vibration. Also the amount of movement seems to throw off the tracking as well. Not sure what we can do about that.

I’m afraid that maybe the best solution will be the Valve Index. I’m just hoping it doesn’t cause a different set of problems if it has some form of inside out tracking we have to defeat.

My experience with tactile transducers with my set up was not good, at first I had a buttkicker fitted under my carbon seat, the vibration was to off putting in racing, I tried to keep it but I couldn’t find a way to use it without spoiling the experience, I took the decision that my motion rig was more important than vibration.
I tried a couple of different vibration gimbals which tbh made it worse.
I looked at the Osmo mobile, but never got to test it, remember you need the tracker to turn, move with the rig if you are going to spend money to try it.

No updates from Pimax as yet.
I guess the next Vr headset that may give a slightly better fov and work with open Vr emulator will be the valve.

    Has anybody tried https://motionsystems.eu/vr-headway/
Their is free software download if you own one of their rigs, I would like to get hold of a copy and try it with the Pimax.

Heads Up Pilots: try this stuff Kyosho ZEAL VIBRATION ABSORPTION GEL SHEET (5MM)
Just put the Gel sheet between the Tracker Mounting and your rig/seat - the gel it is self adhesive.
This absorbs ALL vibrations without adding lag or wrong angels. I maxed out my 500W RMS Bodyshaker and a 400W RMS Subwoofer:
    No tracking issues anymore!

Is motion cancelling working in all 6 axis? No black blocks or stutter anymore? Is it working with the latest (none beta) steam vr version? this would be great!!

Eh, I jumped the gun a bit when I typed that-turns out it's not fixed. It still has tracking issues with Pimax.
