    Hello everyone,

    I am trying to build my first 2DOF simulator, I'm trying to build it since 2 years ago, but the lack of the money held me back. Ok so since I got employed (now I have money, but no time HAHAHAHA), and I am still in my last year of college, I decided to build a 2DOF or 3DOF motion platform in order to get my license.

    I was thinking to go for the cheap solution (as the college will not sponsorship us): A 2 DOF with truck wiper motors. The tutorial created by RacingMat :D.
    The tutorial is very easy to follow, and there will be no problem with connecting the parts and so on..
    But in order to get my license, I need to do an analysis of this motion platform (which beats me :/ ) I couldn't find tutorials that could help me. I used the SimCalc, but more calculations are needed. Also I'm struggling to simulate the whole think through ADAMS and MatLab ( programs in which I never worked ).
    Does any one of you have some materials about this analysis? How should I start..?

    I would really appreciate!

    Oh.. and I will post the progress of my 2DOF motion platform here. Currently I am searching the parts.

    I think you need to give more detail about what actual data is needed for the intended analysis of this motion platform.

    Hey yeah.. I didn't specified, sorry about that. I'm interested in Forward Kinematics and Inverse Kinematics of this 2 DOF Platform. Are there any threads here that explains? I mean I searched, and I can find build and how to build, but there are no posts which actually explains the mechanism behind this platform with forward kinematic and inverse.

    Hi guys, I finally had some time to continue my work with the simulator. Later when I come home from work I will upload a video with what I've done until now.
    I managed to control the direction and the speed of the motors, but I have minor problem and I don't know how to fix it.
    The problem it is that when I turn the pot one of the motor will stop. (not always, only if I am turning it fast, if I go slowly the motor will not stop).
    Another question that I have: is there any possibility to get a license for a month? I'd like to integrate the game with what I've done.

    The demo version of SimTools has the fully functional Live For Speed plugin pre-installed specifically for testing purposes: https://www.lfs.net/downloads

    Make sure you run a LFS race in first person mode before patching it for motion, as that generates some required files.

    That's the problem I'm facing, I managed to connect my motors with the SimTools, but I don't know why the motors stop..

    Are pots attached to the motors?

    Yes the pots are connected, if I'm turning slowly the motors won't stop, if I go fast with turning the pots, the motors will stop.
    Might be because I didn't add a 12v 30A fuse?

    Checked everything and I can't figure out why it behaves like this.
    Do I have to isolate the motor ground? I can't figure out why when I'm turning the pot my motors/PSU stops..
    It's frustrating.

    Wiper motors isolated - and I still have the same problem.
    Tried with another motomonster, same behavior.
    I believe that the problem is with the back EMF, that's why my PSU keeps shutting down.
    I found some threads here, but I don't understand what it would be better to use:
    1. A diode.
    2. Capacitors to absorb the power.
    The problem is: where and how do I connect them.
    I hope to fix this problem, right now this is the only problem that I'm facing, and stops me from building the sim...
    The fact that I can't fix it is frustrating..

    First try a car battery as a simple test, to see if the issue continues or not.

    Good idea, does it matter if the battery have 80Ampers ?

    OK did the thing with the battery car and you were right. Now My motors are working fine.
    Should I connect the PSU to the battery car?

    Now I have to figure it out how to move the motors in Live For Speed and the start building the frame for my simulator (finally).
