Hi guys, what is the difference between (a) axis output and 6 dof output ?

Please see attached images 20190202_145836.jpg 20190202_145845.jpg

Previous P3 and H3 control box had 2 arduino cards in it and also 2 "com ports". 1 for axe (a) usually used for pitch/roll motors and 1 for axe (b) usally used for yaw (grip loss)

But mine is a p6 and both "6 dof output" and "(a) axis output" , control my rig.

"(B) axis output" does not control my p6

Also when I turn "(a) axis output" on , to test the axes , the movements on the axes are much stronger than the movements with "6 dof output" .

Why do I have both in there ?

Because it's by default in simtools that you can test axis (b). But if you didn't setup a (b) axis with a second arduino by example, it wont work. Your P6 only use the (a) axis, that's all. When you test the axis in (a) axis output, it tests the full range of it, that's why it's much stronger. When you test 6 dof output, it gives you the range you've setup ( with the % in the axe assignment ) with the game you've selected to test it. I hope I've answered your questions

Yes! That is so clear! Thank you so much !

Great to know that it seems I can test the axis motion range of the game also this way. I did not know that (a) axis is actually the full range of the 6p. Some movements are so wild=cool and now indeed how much are limited in the game because of the low % assigned to the specific axe

I need to figure out a solution to the motion sickness that I get wearing the headset and driving in for example pjcar2 , even without using the p6.

I think it is because I am not used to sim car in vr.

The pimax 8k is super cool in vr for any other game so far.

My next upgrade would be a star vr (if they start selling it) or an xtal (if they can get to the same starvr field of view). My goal in the next headset is full sight field of view. The pimax gets so close to it that I want more now

Made a short demo of 3dof VR to the normal 6dof VR with blocking the samsung odyssey sensors with tape, since it cannot do motion cancelation because of the inside-out tracking . If the movement is not to violent its not needed imho.

I don't know if it translates very well in the video though.

Also here is the profile and min/max used in this video.

With motion i defently prefer a bigger is better policy.

Monitors are fine without motion, but with you need at least 40 inch tv's or even projector. I don't think triple 27 inch is enough, or you need to dail the motion way down or use a seatmover.

Some people need to get used to VR ( i know i did with the original DK1 days)
And some people just can't handle it.

Just make sure you dont drop too many frames or use vector motion (WMR HDM) or ASW on oculus

@splendiddd are you on a P6 rig? If so, any chance of sharing some of your profile settings. I set up my P6 but it only has profiles for 3 games.

Also, can you show how you mounted the joystick on the side of your seat? Mine is currently mounted in the middle and I would like to relocate it.

    Thanks!

I use the P3, profile is in the post with the video ;-)
I mounted the stick to the shifter bracket with some extra rods. I use the provided joystick mount from DOF. When i am back in the SIM i will post some pictures.

BTW learn how to make your own profiles, especially how to use the tuning centre. Its not really that hard, and when you get your head around it, then you can make any game to your taste :)
