    Hey @noorbeast
Thinking about adding dampers on the rig. You think it’ll be beneficial in helping some of the harsher movement of the rig and help motors in the upward stroke when lifting more of the weight?

    Thanks in advance!

Harsh movement likely indicates the need to refine the motion profile. For example decreasing the Main Level % a bit globally softens the profile.

Are the motors getting excessively hot from being under strain? If so look at things like how well balanced the rig is, rather than dampeners.

Have you tried using a small % of motion smoothing on some of the harsher axis movements?

I use a bit here & there, and it works great.

It’s really not that harsh and I don’t have problems with motors getting extremely hot. The rig is well balanced. Just wondered if dampers will work and make the rig feel more like riding on suspensions.

Yea, I played with it and it does soften it up but too much makes the movement too slow. As I mentioned to Noorbeast, just wondering if dampers will work to make it feel like your riding on suspensions.

No I don't believe dampeners will really help, they are just a mechanical way to affect the movement, which you can already do using the motion profile.

Keep in mind the physical limits of a 2DOF, you can do things like simulate heave, but that is not the same thing as having an actual heave axis.

You also need to consider how the axis allocations work together to create the simulation of motion and effects. For example, how pitch and heave can have a role in simulating something like a rumble strip.

In other words I doubt you have exhausted refinement of your motion profile, but in saying so there are limits to what a 2DOF can actually produce in terms of motion cues.

Added 4 point harness and tension springs. Really adds to the immersion.

Also modified double monitor stand that I got free from work to make keyboard and HMD tray.

Finally, triple monitor set up. It took a while but I think she’s finally done!
