    My Motion Simulator:
    SCN6, 4DOF
    Hi

Some pics of my motion simulator
I decided to get a little local weld shop to help me out with fabrication,
Some if the pics are showing it in the weld shop

I wanted as close to zero flex as possible
The reason for moving to steel box tube & welding

The seat is conventional rocket type
The platform under that also does overall pitch
The base has rear traction loss
    This x4 SCN6 actuators needed

Getting good SCN6 covers was a pain so I had some manufactured/laser cut
    Everything was professionally powdercoated locally
see youtube for contact details if anyone needs some (search scn6 actuator covers )

****sorry all text is not with right pic )-: will correct

———will update with info bit by bit

Custom made SCN6 covers, laser cut / powder coated , work brilliantly:
(made extra's as few people on iracing forum needed some too)

Customised a Fanatic f1 wheel, using a bodnar PCB
( leo bodnar now has an easy conversion PCB) :

I would rally like to see a video of your rig in action, when you have a spare moment.

Yes I’ll do one when I get Simtools up & running again

The addition of the overall pitch is most effectivive for quick small movements eg when in driving simulation the front wheels hitting curbs & bumps , this jolts the seat but user can also feel feet receive a jolt too

To my surprise this type of setup is great for flying sims especially in VR even 15% of the virtual movement feels like 100%

    Hiya

At the time I had my own formula wheel roughy designed but the rig was taking all my spare time , so for speed I bought a fanatec f1 wheel & converted it -resoldered all the electronics inside to a bodnar pcb it works & feels good for formula sim-cars

Ps the covering is just a good quality carbon look vinyl , it’s very hard wearing & looks good too

If you can pickup an old 2nd hand fanatic formula wheel , Leo bodnar now does a conversion PCB for it -makes it much easier & quicker to convert to USB to use on non fanatic ffb systems

    Sick build...,impressive.
Are you going to use SimTool only or use the SC4 SW as well?

hi , I use simcommander ( with simvibe ) for race sims, but it has virtually no support for flight sims, so i use simtools for DCS & will try X-plane 11 when there's a plug in for it
i use simshaker for DCS but hope to try the new gamevibe when it supports DCS

i have x6 shakers on the rig
    all works well

You say you want zero flex, but what car out there has zero flex? I feel like this is just overkill and taking away immersion not adding it. Are there any facts to prove me wrong as this is just my 2 cents opinion.

The current plugin works for X-Plane 11 and it has been updated for Game Vibe: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/x-plane-11-setup.288/

The front actuator shown is much bigger,

What is the model number of this one?

No all x4 actuators are the same

It looks bigger because I designed a different damping cover/holder for it

In fact I’ll add some pics of the damping mechs on the actuators , they work great & help reduce any shock in actuators

I wanted the actuators to have an easy as possible life + also helps with performance

The pivot for the main pitch base notice it is in centre , the whole weight of rig can be lifted fully up & down with my little finger (whilst front actuator not attached ) , I know there’s more strain due to speed & quick changes in direction though this the dampers

The front actuator is mounted to the base frame or just stand on freely? I built a similar setup but using two SCN6 in front instead of one, that is based on the Prosimu T1000 frame with 8020 profiles I build on the top. But mines are freely standing on. I don’t like at all.

    Thanks

The front actuator is mounted at both sides to ball joints to allow free rotational movement
I wanted to be careful all actuators didn’t suffer from bad alignment strain

Can not achieve zero flex but as close to zero as possible

Chassis flex if simulated should be in the telemetry data outputting to motion rig this the effect will be present from software rather than the physical hardware

Interesting concept with one front actuator for pitch :thumbs

There are no problems with that one SCN6 moving all that weight?

no problem , notice the pivot for the main pitch base is around the centre , with a person in seat prior to putting on front actuator I could move the front fully up & down with my little finger
I made sure the balance was perfect

The actuator obviously has to cope with inertia for a change in direction after quicker movements , I don’t use a high speed setting for pitch + the actuator is mechanically dampened , it works well without strain , one can feel a good “thump” movement if hitting a curb or a bigger bump in driving simulation
