I do think you can catch slides better in VR. The angle and speed of which the car is rotating are very easy to judge and correct. Much harder on a flat panel.

Fair price, how is the experience? Because I guess you only feel the front suspension because you don't realy move up and down, is it worth it?

I think, is more easier to find the turning/braking points in VR. But makes me feel more tired faster.

is VR worth it? mmm do you drive a car? walk out there to your car,get in and then drive somewhere look around in your car look around out side then come back home and drive on a flat screen look around . are they the same? like night and day........ i don't know if it makes me faster but makes the experience like no other. i wont go back.

You are absolutely right, the only problem for me is the resolution in VR. When I look in the rear view mirror in Assetto Corsa with an Oculus Rift I only see a few pixels. So it's not there yet, but will be without a doubt.

There are already some reviews on the web - maybe not such a resolution solution as advertised...

Keep practising, every time a bit longer, and you will get over it. It takes some getting used to but you will eventually.

In my personal case I noticed a great improvement, I have been lucky to run in the 24h circuit of Montmelo (Barcelona) and running with 3 monitors is quite similar, but running with OCULUS, is IDENTI. Once VR tests you do not return to monitors 95% of the time.

This past weekend I picked myself up a TrackIR 5, and I have to say that I'm extremely impressed with it.

Over the last few years since discovering VR, first with an Oculus DK2, and subsequently with the Rift, Vive & Samsung Odyssey, I've pretty much become a "No VR=No Buy" type of person as far as racing/flight/space sims go.

Since then, 2D flatscreen pancake gaming has been of no interest to me.

That is no longer the case, as with TrackIR I come so much closer to the feel of VR that I am able to enjoy non-VR sims again.

It really adds that extra presence of being in the cockpit and the ability to freely look around, but with much higher fidelity and frame-rates than the current VR headsets can offer.

Make no mistake, I am still fully all-in with VR, but this little device has allowed me to enjoy all of those non-VR games which I've since put on the back burner.

Titles such as DiRT 4, F1 series, MS FSX, The Crew, etc.

It's an amazing piece of tech which I didn't even know I was missing out on, and am glad to have finally picked it up.

Now I feel as though I have so much more flexibility with my setup, and can really enjoy gaming on a single monitor whenever VR isn't supported.

Of course the game still has to have TrackIR support, but many non-VR ones seem to, and it bridges the gap nicely.

Better late to the party than never!

VR has definitely made me faster without a doubt and add to that I'm driving more consistent laps. There's nothing quite like vr for driving games. The realism is second to none.....can't wait for the day the visuals equal the experience.

Being able to look in your mirrors just like you normally would is a big + for me

    Agreed.

It's unfortunate that only a handful of racing sims offer "live" mirrors though.

Hopefully more & more will in the future.

I also find that feature useful when using TrackIR in games which don't support VR, or if I just feel like playing the game in pancake mode for the better visuals/eye candy.

Imagine 2-3 years from now when we get a bit more resolution/Fov and highly optimized rendering techniques eye tracking. There's really no going back!

I havent done any racing for years as im a very on and off games but its just so much more fun in VR that i can pick it up all the time. Combine it with a seat mover or gseat, yeez! Im ok with my 69HK crap real car cause damn the engines on my computer roar, and they roar loud!

Ok so i had to say all that :p But to the question. Has it made me faster. A bit but not a huge deal

I backed the Pimax 8K on Kickstarter, had it for about a week but there was a problem with tracking. I did use it and FOV and resolution are a big step up from my Rift...the replacement arrives on Monday. I simply can't go back to flat monitor racing and ED now...it just feels horrible.

VR definitely made me faster, I can place the car far more accurately, spot and hit the apex more easily, it just feels more natural. Just need a motion simulator now, I think I'm in the right place.
