I just had word that Santa has fired up the sleigh and is headed to the international date line, somewhere around Christmas Island, Kiribati, ready for a world wide tour. For those who need it here is the official Norad Santa tracker: http://www.noradsanta.org/

Seriously though I know we have many members from around the world who have a diverse range of views and beliefs. Irrespective of what those may be I would like to pass on end of year seasons greetings to yourselves, and those who you hold near and dear.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to the Xsimulator.net community. All members have contributed in a vast array of ways and I am constantly amazed by the originality and ingenuity you all bring to your many and varied projects.

This year saw the dawn of SimTools 2, followed by a number of updates and companion apps, the last of which, Game Vibe, is currently undergoing final QA testing by Santa. SimTools 2 ushers in a new modular and flexible framework for SimTools, and provides the legal provisions for commercial use, which many have now taken advantage of.

And lets not forget the tireless efforts of the plugin devs, as plugins had to be redone from scratch for SimTools 2 compatibility.

While on the subject of plugins some members have been actively lobbying the likes of the IL-2 and Elite Dangerous devs to implement APIs, so that there can be stable motion, gauges and transducer support. If you have not done so jump on the respective game forums and add your vocal support.

I think we can safely say 2017 has also been the year of DC powered Stewart rigs, as many have followed @SeatTime's trail blazing path and created DIY actuators, G-Seats and peripherals. Indeed G-Seats and peripherals such as wind simulation and DIY wheels have also been prominent this year.

It has also been a huge year for our community, with Xsimulator.net having over 2.86M page views and an increasing growth in membership, thanks go to @RaceRay and @Pit for doing all the endless Admin work, including having to deal with the likes of spammers: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/2-7m-pageviews-in-2017-200-000-more-than-in-2016.11139/

For me the ever increasing activity of this community never gets dull, there is always a new idea and new project. The ingenuity of members is just astounding!

So wherever you are and whatever you may be doing many thanks for being a part of this vibrant community and I wish you all the best for the festive season and new year, I expect it to be one of endless possibilities and amazement.

There is nothing to say more, but the last word goes to you, because you are our main supporter and adviser, you are our guidebook or fingerpost showing all new members where to go and where to look for any information. Always helpful and friendly in your spare free time without holding out your hand, a very seldom phenomenon in the world of today. Let us celebrate your spirit, let us enjoy the end of this year as the beginning of the next year, as we did all the times in the past ;)

I'd like to thank all the people who make this all possible, especially @yobuddy and all the plugin writers, @noorbeast, @Pit, and all the contributors who have shared hints, help, and ideas. I went from an office chair with a bass shaker to a motion rig in less than a year thanks to you guys. :cheers
