This video is totally new to me, very surprising! Cool to know that we humans are limited in many things ;) (good for VR I suggest ;) )

Both VR and motion simulation have a common origin in exploiting our perceptual and processing weaknesses and in many ways are still in the early genesis of what may be possible.

@SilentChill - Do NOT play "Face your Fears" on the Oculus store then... Well.. do... but choose the "left door". NOT THE RIGHT!

@SilentChill - Agreed. I remember a video you posted, driving on a track (Maybe AC?), Anyway, you rounded a corner and the sun was glaring and you raised your hand (in real life) to block out the sun. As soon as I saw that I knew VR was for me! :)

Even now, I'll be playing ETS2 and I go to rest my arms on the VR truck seat armrests. I've even been flashed to turn across traffic and I've raised my hand in real life to say thanks!! Mental!!

I think , as soon as you learn how to reed the distances or ,it{s more like your brain learn how to interact with the distances and the simulated movements you turn faster and faster, it can{t be compared with running with a flat panel, i think vr on one hand makes it better but motion is needed to complete the experiense ,i think if i not have my 2dof i never use vr whit racing games..... sorry my bad english

VR and motion rigs are the perfect compliments to each other, they go hand in hand. I struggled with DR until I got VR and in just a short time I was crushing my old times and it wasn't even close. But what still get my brain wonky is when I lose control in DR and roll up a bank or go off a bank or cliff, the visuals are there but my rig can follow those movements, which really messes with my brain. lol

My wife is worried that once I finally get my seat up and running it will eject me through the window which is directly behind the seat!!!! Probably just as well that the rig can't fully recreate some of those disastrous spins and flips. In Dirt Rally I even managed a barrel roll back onto all four wheels and kept control on the landing, that replay is definitely saved somewhere :D
To overcome any motion sickness side effects from the disconnect between what your seeing and what the rig is able to do it's probably best just to close your eyes till normal order is resumed :grin

Motion sickness on dirt is killing me, i belive 6dof will reduce this feeleng on jumps and landing specially with powerfull cars where the jumps are longer and more agresive. by the way, can someone tell me how can i buy a plug in or some plug in with coins? i know this question probably can´t be posted here but i don´t want to make a new post for such a stupid question. may be my coins aren´t enough to buy plugins right now

VR makes me faster for one reason, situational awareness. Knowing exactly where other cars are while driving in a pack has also made me a much safer driver. Once I bought an Oculus Rift my license progression from D to A was almost overnight. I find by keeping my eyes focused on the track in front of me while turning my head from side to side with the Rift helps me see what's going on beside me without losing focus.

It's exciting. Incorporating touch control like hands into the game and haptic response, oh man.

I'm so focus to see everything, trying to catch every detail that I drive slower than in 2D

with my VR set up i definately improved on Iracing and in dirt rally. Specially as the DoF is set up correctly.
I dont expect motion to improve times but defo up the enjoyment :)

    Hi noorbeast.
your quote "I am 5-10 seconds faster in VR"

Wow, that sounds like a lifetime to me, shaving 2 secs of a lap is difficult, let alone 10!

VR is just far more natural for me, where I can look well into a corner and better judge my track placement.

Like many of you, with my VR headset, I've improved my lap times a lot.

There are two factors especially that improve with RV:

    - We feel better the effect of the simulator because we no longer see the external elements that are fix (TV, walls, objects, etc ...), we are totally immersed, which increases our responsiveness.

    - In turns, you can turn your head and look at where you want to go (as when driving IRL), it helps to better position the car, more easily catch the rope, but also to feel a lot more quickly and more strongly the behavior of the car, notament in case of slips. So it increases our responsiveness.

In any case, it's my feeling, it may not be the case for everyone

I consider that the VR immerses you in the game, and even more with the simulator, you would have to see your times per race, to know if it really improves your driving skills, but I think you get more distracted with the VR lenses
