I believed I found and signed up to this forum 2014, didn't build my MDF version until 2015, then start working on my steel one end of 2016 and didn't get a chance to run it until 2017. That kind of sum it up.

    :)

But here's my 2DOF with traction loss using Monster Motto, Adruino and worm gear DC motor, 12V. I have design it to be as compacted as possible so it can still fit into small spaces. But it can still adapt someone that's probably 6ft. But don't think the motor can handle anyone more than 220lbs. :)

    * Had to buy a welding machine.
    * Had to learn how to weld. Then get good at it. (could have died :D)
    * Had to buy a tube roller (should have not try to bend the tubes by hand)
    * Had to draw on Sketchup (should have spend more time on drawing, making sure it was 100% right)
    * Had to spend a lot of time on it. (should have spend less time on it)

BUT I still have not had time to learn how to TUNE it... don't think I ever will... lol.

If you must ask, where's the video, here's a overview.

Great job, a clean design really well executed. :thumbs

A couple of suggestions for you to consider. The first is have a look at refining your surge for snappy gear change motion: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/snappy-gear-change-motion.121/

The second is to get a race harness. People have the natural tendency to compensate and lean slightly forward, as in your video, but that means a lot of the seat motion effect is wasted.

YES, you're absolutely correct, that's exactly how I felt, alwas being push forward and not touching the seat decrease the feels on the motions A LOT. Eventually when I get more time to spend on it, I will get the harness.

What do you mean by refining the surge? I don't have surge axis?

Damn it, I knew it, soon or later someone will comment about my flip flops. I was going to put my racing shoes on and my motorcycle helmet and all.... But then someone is going to say I'm crazy. :D

About the tuning, I felt there's may be some sort of delay... or lag in the motion vs the game. Maybe motor too slow or is it the tuning?

Hi! Absolutely your hardware seems to do all the work needed, but you will get a lot more by tuning and adding other forces (surge, sway, heave, pitch, etc)!

It is not so clearly explained on this site that you actually can and must add all other forces in axis assignement dof3, dof4, dof5, etc. even you only have 2dof+tl rig or so. Software will add those moves to physical axis, and it makes all good :)

Man that is an awesome job you have done, I am building one where the pedals also move with the seat, I notice yours when seat moving or pitching down/up your legs bend to suit. Being I have never tried either versions yet I don't know if that is a good thing or not. Your traction loss is fantastic and I will try to incorporate it somehow in stage 2 of my build, awesome job sir.

I really like the compact design.
Im looking to build one similar to yours and hope you could give me some tips/tricks.

And i want to ask other members:
What would you do differently if you would build a sim like this?

Very nice. Can you tell me Which Arduino code you use? I want to built traction less at my 2dof. I use mm and Arduino. I think you can help to built it done.
