    great

did you change vfd, amc and bff settings compared to flight or were you able to get this response only with eg BFF settings?

Thats the fastest I have seen an AC rig move I'm well impressed and the range of motion is really good. Not so much with your driving though lol :D

looks like your camera tracking is sorted properly now too :)

How long are your levers ?

that thing is awesome. i see you had to put real time so people know. a few points in that video i thought you were playing double speed. it looks so fast

Moves well :thumbs, maybe because it was not built like a boat anchor similar to some other AC sims that I have seen. Just because you have powerful motors does not mean you should forget about inertia. That amount of movement in a car sim may get tiring after a while - but what the heck, as long as you are having fun :). Recommend you invest in a seat harness - it does help allot.

I set AMC online speed to 100%, P to 22, ACL and DCL to .30, and that .5 setting you were talking about helping latency to .01 again.

    Levers are 130mm (adjustable to 100mm, 130mm, 160mm, and 190mm)

I can't take too much credit for the design, it was mostly a copy of other builds that people on Thanos' forums did but I did make some changes. Namely I went with 130mm arms vs. 160 all those did, and I moved the actuators 60mm or so closer together to get the footprint to stay within a six foot square.

I'm not done tuning for Dirt yet, it will probably get toned down a bit eventually but I'm having fun with the rough ride for now. I do have a four point harness, but didn't reinstall it after the upper frame mods just because it's more convenient without it and I didn't feel it was needed. That will possibly get put back on, especially if I do a harness tightener for negative G's like I want to add eventually.

I'm mostly a flight sim person, but being able to quickly and easily switch to racing was a priority for variety since I like racing sims too.

The fact your getting that response without tuning PID is great. Shows how easy this "should" be when things work as there supposed to, bet your well happy.

I don't know if you have ever tried a G-seat but in a Aircraft simulation it is very impressive Eg. To roll into a turn and then pull back on the stick no 6DOF can give you the correct extended pressure on your body like a G-seat can - I would rate it above a harness tentioner.

I was planning to add a G-seat as well as harness tensioner eventually but right now I need to work on paying down credit cards LOL. I've never tried a G-seat but hopefully I will before too terribly long.

If you have any really good links to inexpensive G-seat builds please do send me a link! I've held off looking for build details thus far due to the aforementioned maxed out credit cards =P.

    Thanks @polybasss ! I'm very proud of it. =)

Unfortunately it's forever under construction as I make improvements and build attachments for various types of sim!

The idea is that in minutes I can switch from stick/rudder/throttle, to race car with properly placed H-pattern shifter, to yoke/rudder/throttles, to heli-stick/collective, to FFB stick/rudder/throttles and have it look sweet in every configuration.

In addition to the consoles shown, I've got one that's a forward console plus right side console in once piece built for racing controls and yoke/throttles type aircraft that still needs finishing work and paint, and one that's fully functional but not built up for looks yet for helicopter sims. I also have to modify the original consoles since I recently went to a couple inch higher seat height to add knee clearance under the yoke/steering wheel.

    Hey Trip,

I think i saw one email from you among the many I get everyday. Unfortunately there is only 24 hours in day and not enough time to do everything.

I'll be releasing new firmware the next days or weeks that has finally stable serial worker. So far in my tests its not missing a bit of the data stream and rejects unwanted data and out of sync packets marvelously. Perhaps you are interested into early beta testing of it. I already have reworked the simtools Amc1280usb interface with same fix as well the Hexpod driver. Let me know

    Thanks
    Thanos

Thanks Thanos! I will be happy to beta test, and should have time to do so next week. Go ahead and email me or PM me here to get me the file.

Impressive rig. I wish I had half of your skills to build such things. Keep on the good work.

    Very kind words, thank you!

You can learn! When I started the only skills I had were basic tools use, internet searching, and stubbornness! I did have the advantage of having inherited lots of tools from my father, but I've not used anything that you can't buy at Home Depot.

All you really need to do this is lots of google-fu and tools. Oh, and credit cards. LOL!

I've been doing credit card for almost 2 years now. I don't have half the rig you have, and certainly not half the skills.
