@SeatTime What a strong willed person you are, I'd be in a lather of sweat a Stanley knife in one trembling hand, and a cold glass of VB in the other. Happy Xmas. ENJOY!!

Has Santa also organized a 3rd camera? It really is necessary for robust 360 tracking.

Don't think I have enough room to worry about that.

Up to you, but in my view the 3rd camera is needed for robust 360 degree Touch tracking, even if you are standing in the same spot.

The Rift is tracked OK, as it has rear LEDs, but Touch will be occluded by your body with the standard 2 front facing camera setup. Twin Diagonal will be a bit better for 360 degree tracking, but not perfect.

Im not doing bad with 360 and even room scale with 2 cameras to be honest. I have them far enough apart and angled down from the ceiling. I do have a 3rd on order and just got my processing email last night....and then failed paypal charge...so had to change to check card. loving oculus

It will depend on the volume being tracked. There are 2 videos here where the user tests the limits of Touch tracking: https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/5hmr4b/video_demonstrating_limitations_of_oculus_touch_2/

The official Oculus experimental guide for 2 camera 360 degree tracking is here: https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/t39.2365-6/15397552_232732683816172_4121045365602385920_n.pdf

What the creator of the videos does, if you watch both of them, is test the boundaries of such a setup, as the recommended Oculus play area for diagonally opposed 360 use is only 1.5M x 1.5M, with the cameras 2M apart.

To put that testing into some comparative context HTC recommends 2M x 1.5M as the minimum for the Vive 2 base station room-scale setup, with 5M x 5M being the recommended. People such as myself have tested Lighthouse out to nearly 10M.

No, I wasn't even sure if I wanted the controllers, but being a Xmas present from my lady...
I'll see if I like it and then maybe get another camera.

I had the Playstation Move some years ago and could have played maybe three times with it. It's all up to the contents, no/bad contents>no fun.

This sounds so much like me, if it wasn't for sims, don't know if I would even own an VR system at all at this time in its development - rarely use my VR system for anything else.

@SeatTime you're so right and I was so unsure that I canceled the order and bought this
I'll go for the Touch after some more contents has being released. To be honest I also just use the Rift sat. In the rig.

Touch arrived and is sat on my desk in the box. Promised the wife I'll put it under the tree.

Now to find some bricks that weigh the same.....

Had a sneaky play with the Touch last night, and first impressions are that they have the potential to be awesome!

I played First Contact and was surprised by how easy it is to interact with the VR world around you. The controller gives you slight tactile feedback as you point and grab, which really helps with immersion. Grabbing the rockets and pulling the tab to let them off is quite amazing!

Then I played Arizona Sunshine. It has a few issues with it's aiming system (as per forum comments) but overall it's certainly a very playable experience with the Touch. I thought the "teleport" movement method would be hard to grasp, but you do get some limited "walkabout" freedom once you are "placed" into a location. I found that searching cars were excellent as you kind of had to stoop down and pop your head into the boot of cars to check out ammo boxes!

One thing that did blow me away, and will seem trivial to those in the know, is how well tracked and visualised the touch controllers are in VR. when you are not in a game, you get a full 3D view of the controllers and where your hands are in Virtual (and real space) and it's amazingly precise.

I can see that should FlyInside and P3D take this on it would change those sims in VR. You would literally be able to grab the controls of the plane inside VR and flick and push switches without issue. The only issue I can see would be "feel" of the stick (a bit like playing Wii racing games with the controllers)

They really are an amazing piece of kit! Very happy.

We are yet to see the real possibilities for VR and tracked controllers for sims, it does open up new types of game play, like perhaps being part of a pit crew for a race sim, or doing physical pre flight checks for flight sims.

received my third sensor. Im thinking that I want to get a 4th. I would like to have on pointed at my sim and 3 pointed at my room scale space. I think it should work without issue.

What are the physical dimensions of the room you plan to use and the intended play space within it?

That is over the recommended 8.2ft X 8.2ft, so you may need to fiddle a bit with camera placement to get the most out of them.
