Nick, thanks! I was wondering if I can still used this PS? I notice that the Granite Devices website Description for the SimuCUBE shows voltage range from 24vdc to 48vdc.

Guys, I found this video at the Sim Racing Garage YouTube channel he compared 3 servo motor wheels and I am interested in the OSW version, the OSW motor that is been used in this video I can get it for $1300 USD in the US, do you guys know what are the components inside this Controller box?

$ for $ the motor isn't worth it when you add a 10,000PPR encoder to the Standard 20nm Mige.

And that electronics box is now old a defunct. The products i linked are Exactly what you would get from any of the Current DD builders....SimuCube is THE unit.

You wont be running those boards now, As i said the Simucube is the Replacement Main board for all those little boards and components you needed back in the Argon build days, You Literally have 3 components for the Electronics now, The Cube itself, The Ioni driver and the Power supply. It really doesn't get any simpler now.

Note I am using the SDR-960-48 for my Lenze and AKM53K servo setups, and the SDR-480-48 for my big MiGe setup. For the smaller MiGe, I can recommend the NDR-480-48 unit.

Photos below of the 24V units, you need 48V PSU!! It is the best to google for a supplier closest to you.

    SDR-960-48 (for Lenze, AKM53/54 servos)

[IMG]Please note the specs of this one, this will not work well on 115VAC input power!! At that voltage, it is derated to ~the same wattage as the 480W units!

    NDR-480-48 (for small Mige)

For servos, please visit my Bruteforce 2 thread, there is a list of commonly used servos for the DIY DD wheel application.

A few photos of a quick and easy built I have done for my Lenze servo - this is based on the Prototype board Tero kept for me - I am honoured to have this bit of history, it has performed exceptionally well over the past >2 months:

And a render of a nice acrylic case, similar to what will be supplied as a complete built unit, or upgrade kit - case by Aki!

Please find below the basic block diagram, wiring diagram (both borrowed from Granite Devices Website) as well as a wiring schematic I have made to ease the process for you fellas DIY'ing the SimuCube build

I will update this section as receive the 1x Cube hardware, please note the schematic below is only applicable to the 4x Cube and Single IONI Drive as per my prototype testing.

    Post5:

    Update:
Some time ago, I got my hands on a brand new AKM53K servo, it was from a sale Davy Watts had on iRacing. I got one of the few with the 40k Comcoder option, as such it will make for a very good platform for an OSW, wouldn't you think?

Well, the one caveat about using the AKM-K series over the AKM-G series servos, is the fact that the K series is wired for speed, as opposed to the G-series' torque. The K have a speed of 4,500 rpm, and as such, it would be totally animalistic if paired with a 48V psu.

Well, Ollie Aina over in the UK has requested me to do some 24V testing on the SimuCube, as he has experienced phasing issues at this voltage with some of his earlier IONI builds, and I have decided to pair a very nice NDR-480-24V psu, with the AKM53K. (Thanx Ollie!)

The absolute beauty of this NDR-480-24V is, that it seems to be using the same enclosure as the SDR-480-48 psu....why is this important......SimuCube was released recently, and I ordered 2 upgrade kits, which, as we know, allowed for several psu options...mine was the SDR psu upgrade.

One unit has the SDR 48V psu installed, it is up and running and powering my Lenze setup currently - whilst I have decided to pair the 2nd unit with this 24V psu, and use it to drove the AKM53K servo. It works out really well, as now I can drive the K-servo to its peak of ~30NM as well, having heaps of torque, with realising the benefits of a super smooth servo [IMG]

    Fun times ahead!

    upload_2016-12-4_6-7-35.png

Finalised the wiring for both motor and encoder in short order, and got it up and running with the SimuCube - makes for a nice and compact combination, drop-dead seksi imho [IMG]

Just a shot of a quick bench-test, I will do more testing once I return from Indonesia in ~10 days.

Supposedly there's a New Firmware in the works that will alleviate a lot of this initial setup stuff, Finger's crossed its Easy peezy for New guys coming in.
