Ok 1st test hooked up to SMC tool. Crappy MM overheating and seems an issue with the pot maybe, but it is a promising start :) Lots more work to do to iron out little niggles and then make the rest once I have this one perfected.

    That's all folks :D

edit: please excuse the mess lol

Looking good @SilentChill, don't know the quality of your pots, but I ended up going to Element 4 and purchased some reasonable quality ones. Gave up on the cheap Chinese spec ones some time ago. Also just warning you that I have recently ordered parts to build a low weight G seat to complement my sim - sorry . More will be revealed in my thread as it develops:).

Yeah its a SeatFlyerChill Actuator :D

I had it working properly yesterday with a decent MM running it. Really good response but I only have 1 of my old PSU's on it so it keeps tripping on hard reverses but should be fine once hooked up to my current 6 which are in parallel. Ball screw seems noisier than I thought and its echoing down the carbon tube, hopefully that will quieten down once its all hooked up.

Another thing I put the actuator in place at full length and it looks like I will have about 100mm of head room above me when the rig is at its highest  Which is ok really as I'm the tallest person I know :thumbs

Hi good buddy . dont know if you can make it out from the photos ive posted , you could maybe look into a frame design that dropped the seat height below the actuator mounting points to gain yourself a few more inches or mm in terms of ceiling clearance , helped me a great deal with my set up and that I learnt from ..@seattime design will post pictures of the current uj mounting but now I am welding stuff I think these will be updated so the universal joint has a 75m x 3mm metal plates welded at each end , this can then be bolted to th actuator base and the platform base . Again just one option of possible many .. did not want to weld stuff untill I was sure or position and mechanical operation. Cheers guys

Cheers matey, I already lowered my seat a while back. Prob is I'm in my basement it's not very high at all . It'll be what it'll be lol :D

Didn't think of just welding a plate to the end of the UV simple and easy, nice idea. Could then just use that as the bottom plate of the actuator if used 5mm steel probably . Interesting ;)

Yeah it was £79 from aliexpres for 6 x 25mmOD 22mmID 500mm long. Quite a few on there I just went with the cheapest. Seems pretty good quality to me with my limited knowledge on carbon fiber.

Sorry @SilentChill but I'm liking some of your enhancements especially the Belt tension clip used to secure the Belt to the Ball screw nut ... OK Cough up where did you get those Clips cos I'm in a mood to spend money and change my design LOL :) see this is why we swap ideas .....Cheers

Here I list everything I bought initially.

    https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...g-12v-dc-motors-mms-and-arduinos.6948/page-25

    Pretty much all off aliexpress.

I will share my 3d print bracket which bolts onto the bottom of the ball screw which now holds the wheels to stop spinning and also the belt holder which doubles up as the limit switch push. You would have to adjust it as you used 20x60 profile I only using 20x40. I can send you the sketchup if ya want

I'm in Spain till Friday for my birthday so will sort it when I get home

Couple more updates for those that are interested ;)

1st prototype works great and I've finished the design now for the next 5.

Because I cant afford a CNC just yet I have made a template from the 3D Printer so I can make sure all my holes marry up to each other on the 4 plates and one for the motor bolt holes using a Bench drill and my trusty mitre saw.

    upload_2016-10-9_16-58-55.png

My final design for the bolt screw plate to carry the vslot wheels to stop twisting, hold the GT2 belt and it also acts as a limit switch trigger.

    upload_2016-10-9_16-56-16.png
    upload_2016-10-9_16-56-40.png

Wish I had @SeatTime quality working with Carbon Fiber mine just looks a mess but hopefully it will do the job, ended up using Teroson PU6700 adhesive I welded them first with it and then used it with the carbon fiber cloth and they are all straight although the picture doesn't look like it lol. They did withstand me standing on them so fingers crossed they will be strong enough o_O

Maybe I could sand them down a bit and put some lacquer over it make them look more presentable.

    upload_2016-10-9_16-57-56.png

In the end of the tube I am going to use a 22mm reducer for plumbing it fits really nice and snug so once bonded it shouldn't go anywhere. Again I have no idea if it will hold out or not but as always time will tell :)

I will either attach the UV's on the end of the M12 thread or use the Rose Joints I already have on the rig.

    upload_2016-10-9_17-17-9.png

    upload_2016-10-9_18-19-54.png

And my 1st Actuator kinda in position. Thats at full stretch so the rig will be around 200mm higher than it currently is at centre. :cheers

    upload_2016-10-9_18-25-56.png

    Thats all folks
