    Hello Sim Racers/Pilots out there,

    I am on a continuing journey in sim racing. Currently running a DIY kit 2DOF seat mover (SCN5), and have had a blast with it. However, as many I'm sure feel the same, there are always tweaking and things to improve! I want to build something similar to the Hexatech, without spending $193,000 for a pro built system. I have begun constructing, and learning what is involved in building a mini motion rig based on a recessed stewart platform. New to Arduino, new to Sim Tools, new to the concepts of Mechatronic Engineering, and the mathematics involved! Can't wait to play Star Citizen, Project Cars, and Dirt, 6DOF, on the Oculus Rift!

    Hello everybody,
    I'm from the US and pretty new to sim racing. Like most of you, I stumbled here looking to get some info on adding motion to my rig.

    I am a life long car lover and recently discovered sim racing. It's kind of crazy but I had no idea the tech was anywhere near where it is. For me, the whole purpose of this project was to grow and maintain skills for real-world racing. I just started a business so I won't be able to do any real racing for a while. So to compromise I want to build the most realistic sim experience possible.

    I started by buying mid-level peripherals (that I could easily resell) to see if sim racing was for me. I basically got the whole fanatec lineup, built a pretty powerful PC, setup some aura pro transducers on simvibe and build a static chassis. Well after a few weeks of testing I'm hooked!

    My biggest issue is not getting any feedback, especially on how fast I'm moving and the cars reaction under breaking. I built my rig out of scrap wood I had around. Again I knew from the beginning that it would not be a long term solution but I figured if I didn't like sim racing I wouldn't have to worry about selling and shipping a whole chassis. Right away the inability to adjust my peripherals started driving me crazy. So I took the whole thing apart and started to design something new.

    During my research I discovered this forum. I was originally looking for ways to control a SCN5 because I though that was the only reliable solution to motion. After spending pretty much all weekend reading this forum I now realize how wrong I was lol.

    My new plan is to build my entire rig from scratch. I will have just as much fun building everything as I will using it once it's done. I want 3DOF, a G seat, an OSW wheel and to make my own pedals. I plan on going the DC gear motor with JRK Controller route for the motion. Right now I'm waiting for the 80/20 to arrive to put my current setup back to use. I'm not in a rush to get everything done right away. I want to formulate a solid plan so I can keep costs as low as possible and utilize any opportunities that come my way. I know I'll have to fabricate my motion platform and ill have access to a welding shop at the end of the summer.

    I won't feel bad if you don't read this ridiculously long post lol, but I want everyone to know that I appreciate all the work put into this forum. I plan on sharing as much as I can about my own build

    Hi there!

    I'm Dominique from Paderborn in Germany. I started my interest in racing sim around christmas last year. Mostly because I heard of Dirt Rally (I loved Colin McRae Rally as a child). Dirt Rally is what I play the moste currently, but as well some PCars.

    Soon I had a T500RS in place and built my first wooden - static rig. Then the hunger for more stepped in and I upgraded from my living-room TV to a 3x27" monitor set (I even had to build a new desk for that :D) and recently some Bassshakers were added. I also infected my brother and two friends with this so I had to build three more rigs :D

    So now I'd like to build a 3dof rig (2 rear seat mounted + rear traction loss) pretty much like the one of @SilentChill (you got my full respect 4 what you built up there mate! - great inspiration)
    I'm already impressed by the amount of information shared here and by the readiness to help here in the forum.:)

    I currently don't have too much time so I will take things slowly in this regards. But I'll do it :D

    Hi everyone, I just found this exciting new page. I have no electronic or engineering abilities but I built a steering wheels and pedals before they were commercially available (not ffb). I have also made my own 6 speed shifter and several driving chairs ( no motion ) I had the oculus DK2 and sold it to order the Rift which should come soon... I hope to build a motion chair to go with it and get the full vr effect. Looks like I have a lot of study to do to find the best solution to my upcoming project ;) Thank you all for sharing your research for us to look at and learn from.

    Hello, I am a new user here, though one with ridiculous ambitions that are off the scale compared to other hobbyist motion simulators. I am probably going to be very quiet and not post much.

    I merely want to build my own powered exoskeleton, to be used as a human-wearable 64+ DOF permanently tethered force feedback haptic interface, for full body, full motion simulation in a virtual world, mounted on a full motion 4-axis 7DOF 360 degree motion platform.

    Oddly I can't seem to find any of these at the local Walmart, and I can't afford to buy anything that SARCOS is making, so I guess I will have to build one myself. As a self-taught hobbyist. With a middle-class American income.

    To be reasonable about it, I am focusing on designing the mechanics first using free 3D editors like Blender, human 3D models from DAZ 3D, and engineering tools like the free AutoDesk Fusion 3D.

    I will save the servo control and physics engine integration for later, once there is a working mechanical exoskeleton prototype with the proper amount of flexibility to match a real human body. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm working on it.

    This is probably just a dream, but I want to see what is possible anyway.
