The MMone has been getting a bit of attention from the VR Reddit crowd, primarily regarding how dangerous it could be if your right arm ever strayed: http://www.mm-company.com/

While it claims to be VR compatible the movement really would preclude use with the DK2 tracking camera.

Nor is anywhere in the realm of generally affordable motion simulation for the masses.

Still, it is a fascinating example of a robot arm turned 360 degree simulator.

A camera wouldn't be that useful on that type of sim anyway? I mean, you're locked in pretty hard, you aren't able to do much more than move your head anyway?

From time to time, I see used industrial arms for sale on the internet at prices affordable by mortals. Not by ME, but not at least SOME mortals.
I wouldn't worry about the robot straying. Any of the better arms, even used, they make their movements to within a mm or so of the intended destination at exactly the intended speed, over and over and over again. Very high quality stuff with lots of self diagnostics.

Which brings up the next point... Even if you get a great deal on a used one, maintaining it or fixing it could get pricey quick. The replacement parts and labor, it's priced at what Factories can afford, vs. individuals or small businesses.

*edit: I really really really want one of those arms. A lot.

Nicely made, but it just felt like a joke video (April 1st?) - 'Emotion as a Gift' - really, but I had a good laugh . Looking for business partners - run :D
