Thats the reason why we were offline yesterday at 23:55 CET and today from 23:30 until now 00:12

Thanks to http://www.hetzner.de/en/ for the very fast replacement of our power supply.

I am happy to say that we are back again:)

Absolutely...but its rubbish to see the complete site down. Thats the reason why i am starting now to make a cluster. One more server in another datacenter and we are better prepared for such failures.

agreed, when Simtools is released it should be hugely popular. I have been spreading the word around the Flight Sim forums.

What you guys think about creating some more general forums for specific games, later after publishing simtools?

I have a dream...- raise the voice - ...that user on xsimulator find a place where they feel like being home and where they can talk about all subjects of (simulation) games, personal things and form friendships.
The motion simulator is only a "tool" to become a better immersion and game experience. When its (finish) it comes the point where we want to talk about the games we play with our motion beasts. So thats the idea behind my suggestion.

I do not open a new thread for it, because its just a idea from scratch.

I think it is a great idea, it might even generate a XSimulator.net gaming club. I would very much like that.

Maybe it could include some sort of list for members "best lap times" in various games with specific cars/tracks? Or perhaps videos of best crashes or flights? That would at least let us challenge each other without timezone issues.

Thats a interesting idea. Like a hall of fame. Any idea for verification of the lap times? For our "small" circle i do not think that we need a trust element, it´s ok when members are able to offer a screenshot or just publish their times but later there will be cheaters...i bet:)

Do you know how are other forums doing it? Are they using the regular forum post system or special addons for it? I need some ideas for it.

Well I'm not sure about other games but I have just started playing the free RaceRoom Racing Experience. It has nice graphics and seems to have quite realistic physics (to me anyway).

It has a leaderboard and you can select anyone on the leaderboard to use as a ghost car so you can challenge their lap times. All you need to know is their user name, so that could be what you publish here. The leaderboard can be accessed via the internet also, so its easy to cut and paste a screenshot of your position with the relevant car/track selection. example below:

    raceroom-leaderboard.JPG

So that would be an easy starting point to see if there is any interest. Only issue is the free part has limited tracks and about 6 cars. The first thing I did was to fork out about $5AU for the Bathurst track which I am enjoying but not everyone has spare money for games.

I don't normally play online so don't know if any other games have similar features?

I wouldnt mind buying one track and one car to race on that track. I like your idea.

It is sort of like the TopGear test track and test car.
