Don't know if this has been posted before ... No positional tracking, but food for thought for any seated experience at half the price of the others. Seriously thinking of picking one up :think - need to investigate more. What do you think @noorbeast ?

So I've done some investigating - Lots of negatives reviews for obvious reasons - but for what I want it for - this guys review is quite interesting

Thanks @noorbeast - Yes agree it has limited use for some VR titles, but for a seated Car/Plane/Roller coaster and Space experience, I would sure appreciate nearly double the pixel density Per Eye - CV1 1080 X 1200 up to 1920 X 2160 with the PIMAX and no God Rays. Obviously what might let it down is its compatibility with some Steam VR titles and Graphic card drivers. I have plenty to keep me busy at the moment, so will think about it for a bit longer and then make a decision.

One thing is for certain, though - with things like this hitting and even if there are bugs/issues, it sets the course for the future. We will have this resolution or better. It's just a matter of time.

This is a very exciting time for VR even if time sometimes seems to crawl along at a snail's pace.

LG is slated to have at least a jump in resolution over the Rift/Vive and maybe even a significant jump. HTC and Oculus should be deep into their rev 2 designs which if anything, will be countering the LG entry with even higher resolution. Obviously things can't progress too far in resolution without some supporting technology like eye tracking and foveated rendering, but that's in the pipeline. And now that the Nvidia Pascal architecture is available in the maybe final iteration in the "Ti" cards, Volta should be being worked hard there and if they hold to their previous timelines, out next spring or summer.

Now if only Intel and AMD would step up CPU capabilities, things could really rock. And cost a lot of money... :thumbs

Personally I think it is very good [ it`s cheap, has a 4K display, renders in 2.5K with upscaling to 4K -> so present GPU can handle the rendering on Ultra settings, has a SteamVR support ] for its issues [ yes no positional tracking, but I made it myself for 10-20$ from PsMove + Ps3Camera ] I only tested Pimax4K during last weekend but made some progress [ on setting things up and building a PositionalTracking - with a success I think ] and I must admit - it is a first 4K VR - for me ? WORTH all the money ! [ small issue: will probably never use my CV1 again... ]

they are developing a super fov 8k ( 2 4k screens side by side )
if its 90hz or over , I'm interested

    http://www.pimaxvr.com/8k/

of course one can run at a lower resolution and still benefit from a super high pixel count on the display panels,

I currently run at 4k into my CV1 ( using pixel sample )
