    HI All,

Just starting my build and have purchased some used wiper motors from eBay.

Bosch 0 390 241 358, from a Rover 75/ZT, so whilst not a truck or very large car its a reasonable sized saloon and I thought Bosch might be a reasonable build quality.

Anyway when modding the ground isolation, it became apparent that the magnets on the stator of one of the motors were basically shattered into about 6 pieces. I have removed the loose pieces (see photo) and the motor does still run but it is noisy and I guess will make less power or speed, so needs replacing.

I also noticed that the helical gear in these motors are plastic, (not sure if that is important) and the output shaft has a fine spline which isn't ideal to interface with for something homebuilt.

So before I go and buy a replacement of the same type, I was wondering if anyone has a go to list for a model of specify wiper motor or a specific car (sold in the UK preferably), that uses good wiper motors.

don't forget to remove the grounded wire inside the motor to prevent short circuit

My wiper motors are almost identical to yours, I think almost all are.
I use motors from VW/Audi (this is the last one I bought: link)
The output shaft is not the best to deal with, so I started using glue for metals

Blame37, how did you use the glue for metals? I was thinking of pitting a flat on the shaft.

Yes, that that is why I had the motors apart. I've checked and the case now floats. Any idea what happens if you connect both high and low speed brushes?

When I get my replacement I will give it a try on the old scrap one.

This is how I'm making my shafts, and where I put glue for metals

I am not sure that with the length, it is very solid
When the simulator moves quickly, it may move

No, it doesn't. It's not that long, maybe 4cm., it's just unscrewed in the pic.
I have got it two years now and it doesn't move

The fact that it is unscrewed gives this impression of fragility

I guess you mean thread lock when you say glue. Something like Loctite 272 can hold 17ftlb of torque. I think the wiper motors do about 13ftlb on high speed, 17 on low speed, so with some tightening onto the shoulder on the shaft I can see how it would hold. Think i might put a flat on the shaft also though.
